Pros Cheap Good location, next to train station and airport bus stop. Close enough to old quarter. Amazing staff, really went out of their way to explain everything minutely with proper details on the map for everything you could possibly need. Most helpful thing I have experienced at any hotel I have stayed including 5 star resorts. Feel bad about leaving this review especially for them because they really go out of their way to help you. Good water pressure, extremely clean tiles and towels. AC is very good and you can control the temperature fully. Mattress is soft and comfortable even though bed is little low. Good amount of toiletries provided including shaving kit. Water filter in lobby for you to refill your bottles and save this wretched planet which is doomed anyway. Elevator/lift present but half the rooms are on half step above so you have to take half a flight of stairs if unlucky. Not the worst thing though and manageable.
Cons Room is musty and old. Paint is coming off, chairs look worn. Didn't bother to use fridge or kettle since the overall state of room looks so bad. As soon as I entered the room I felt like a made a huge mistake booking this place. Even at cheap price you expect the walls not to be falling apart. The floor boards move man. They literally slide under your feet if you try. Really weird thing. Hot water is good only for few minutes then it becomes very lukewarm. Nothing dangerous but a slight annoyance if you like long showers. Headboard of bed looked mouldy and dirty. Even though mattress and blanket seemed clean and fresh. Safe I don't think worked or it required some shenanigans so didn't bother. Although they have a decent sized wardrobe which even some expensive hotels skimp on.
Summary - This has unfortunately been the standard old quarter experience now. Most hotels in good locations suffer the same issue of mustiness and bad maintenance due to their age and lack of space and ventilation. The few good hotels in the area seemed to have realized this and have priced themselves out for me as I am on a really long sojourn.
Having stayed at multiple hotels the option was clear if you need good cheap hotels you probably have to book them far from old quarter in Tay ho, Westlake, Cau Giay etc. but then the traffic is bad and taxis get expensive during peak hours and I am uncomfortable on moto taxis for longer distances. Real shame. Especially since I was staying in spanking hotels in nha trang for half the price just before coming here. Even Saigon has much better hotel situation currently.
Surprised at the good reviews here not sure if the room I got was the worst and the other...
Read moreThe rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable and even felt new. For the price it was the best value we could find and we weren't disappointed. If you are looking for a comfortable stay for a budget price, this is the best place. They had free toiletries like toothbrushes and free coffee in the rooms as well. The showers and bathrooms were all clean and modern, not run down and dirty like many hotels in the price range.
The breakfast was wonderful with an omelet skillet, bacon, eggs, fresh fruit and milk, spring rolls among other things. The breakfast only would cost you 20 Euros in high tax Europe so if you think you pay market price for the breakfast and the room is free! Also there was a side street about 30 meters from the hotel that had coffee shops and restaurants that had great and cheap Vietnamese food.
If you aren't afraid to drive, you can rent a motorbike there. They don't have them out front but I wanted one and within 10 minutes they had one for me to use for less than 8 bucks a day, I'm sure depending on the quality of bike you get.
The main reason you go to Vietnam however is for the excursions. Their manager there was very helpful and we booked all our trips through him. Being an experienced traveler, I always check around a few travel stores before I book to see if I am getting the best price and after walking around the old quarter negotiating with the different shops I found the prices we got at the hotel we the same or better than the other shops after negotiating with them about price. It was so convenient having the hotel book our trips too as if something went wrong or we had a question about start times and such, they could call and answer. And we did an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay and the didn't charge us for the night we were on the boat even though we had originally booked the room for that day! They were very happy to help and not squeeze us on little things.
Tips to all Hanoi travelers, simply book your X day stay here and show up, they will even provide a taxi for you for a cost (which is LESS than getting one at the airport,) book your trips through their manager and have a great time. Easiest vacation aver if you just go through them. I don't write too many reviews but I want people to know that this place will not rip you off and will make everything very...
Read moreWe booked this accommodation because it is 5 minutes walk from Hanoi Train station, close to Halal restaurant (D’Lions restaurant), and old quarter (15 minutes walk). We booked a family room which located at 7th floor. I prayed hard that nothing will happen 😂. 7th floor for family is really insane. The room is quite spacious for 3 adults & 2 kids. I think there were few furnitures that are not required such as the sofa because the area a bit limited to place your luggages.
The accommodation is very kind. They gave us a plastic bags contains mineral water, bread, and fruit. We got it for 2 days as we stayed for 2 nights. We were really sad that we can’t eat the bread as it is non-halal. We just took mineral water & fruit. They also helped to bring our luggages to the room while we go out strolling the old town (waited for 2 PM check-in).
The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The women staffs can speak English quite well while the men staffs only can understand English but can’t speak back.
I think the only downfall of this accommodation is the cleanliness. The toilet is slippery. The room is quite dusty. I was sneezing whenever returning to the room. Yes I’m allergic to dust. Hence, sneeze. I even get unwell after returning back to my hometown.
If you plan to stay in a short period with affordable price, you may consider this...
