We visited Sadhu in November 2023 based on recommendation from my brothers friend for a wonderful vegetarian restaurant to dine at. Since he highly recommended it, I made a dinner reservation even before I left for our Vietnam vacation. I was not sure what to expect but all I can say is WOW! The food, the service and the ambiance was just amazing and overall value was excellent. The best thing it is a buffet restaurant one price for all you can eat but the difference being you choose the items you want to eat and they will bring it to your table. You can eat as many items as you want , including dessert. Come here on an empty stomach if you want to sample amazing dishes that are presented Michelin style. Even better come as a group if you want to sample more dishes. There are 100+ items to choose from that includes salads, soups, appetizers/starters, main entree and desserts. I am so glad we came here on the last day of our Vietnam trip and this place will always be remembered ! I don't believe I have ever had such an excellent meal at the price it cost me - about US$13 per person. Best part they are all vegetarian or vegan.
Food - We had a difficult time to select what we wanted to eat from the large variety/selection of items. The menu was like a book where all the dishes were colorfully described with amazing pictures to go with each item. Since it was only me and my wife , we decided to order some familiar and some unfamiliar items. We ordered Young Coconut Soup, Papaya salad, Flower salad, Spring Rolls, Sushi , Pho, Pizza with squash, and for dessert Coconut Ice cream and Watermelon. The portions are small but that is ideal as you can sample more items. Every item was delectable and the presentation was out of this world! Probably the best coconut ice cream I have ever had.
Service - for a buffet place we thought service may be average but their service is like at a sit down upscale restaurant. Everyone from the time you enter the restaurant to when you leave was very humble, friendly and seemed like their service ethos was to ensure you had an enjoyable meal. The wait staff patiently explained all the items we had questions on were knowledgeable as to what was in each dish. They did not hurry you at all even though restaurant was at capacity and the restaurant is pretty large. Their service was truly exceptional . everyone we noticed at the restaurant were enjoying their meal
Ambiance - This place is pretty big but the ambiance is so elegant yet simple. Throughout the time we were there they had some chanting in the background. everything from the decor to choice of tables, colors, cutlery, plates and menu exhibited elegance . Tables are also well spaced out. You have to visit to understand and appreciate/marvel the ambiance
Overall - All I can say is you have to experience Sadhu and you will understand what a truly special meal is. Although this is all vegetarian I truly believe non-vegetarians will also love it. The table next to us were from Peru and they were not 100% vegetarians but they truly enjoyed the meal.
Thank you to entire staff of this restaurant for ensuring we leave Hanoi with special memories. This is a restaurant I mention to all my friends and say if they go to Hanoi, they have to visit Sadhu. As vegetarians , Vietnam has been great for us to dine at because each and every place we have been to has been unique in its vegetarian/vegan offerings and truly exceptional. Sadhu is our...
Read moreJust returned home after having lunch at Sadhu Vegetarian Restaurant with some Vietnamese friends — and I must say, what a pleasant experience! Having lived in Hanoi for 27 years, I had surprisingly never been to a Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant before. My wife, on the other hand, has visited many such places not only in Hanoi but all across Vietnam. So today, at the invitation of my friends and with a little encouragement from my wife, I finally decided to give it a try. And I’m so glad I did! Although I’ve often enjoyed Vietnamese food with my colleagues at work, this was my first time venturing into a proper Vietnamese vegetarian dining experience — and it turned out to be a real treat. About the place: The restaurant is beautifully designed, reflecting local culture and aesthetics. It’s spacious, has a calm, positive atmosphere, and gives off genuinely good vibes. Upon arrival, we were comfortably seated at the table our friends had booked in advance. The dining experience: Sadhu serves only a buffet, but it’s a unique kind of buffet. Instead of the usual self-service counters, they hand you a large booklet-style menu from which you can order as many dishes as you like, and everything is freshly prepared and brought to your table. You can reorder any items you enjoyed — as many times as you wish. All the dishes our friends ordered were absolutely delicious — beautifully presented, well-balanced in flavor, and clearly made with care. The staff were attentive and quick, ensuring that we never had to wait long for our food. One downside: The only disappointment was a rather puzzling policy regarding hot water. After finishing our meal, we asked for some, but the staff refused to serve it unless we purchased a new bottle of mineral water for them to boil. We already had mineral water on the table and were happy to use that, but they were quite firm on their rule. It felt unnecessarily rigid — especially since, in our culture, drinking hot water after a meal is a long-standing practice believed to aid digestion. If the management happens to read this, I hope they reconsider this policy. It’s a small change that would go a long way toward improving customer satisfaction. That said, the food was so good that I couldn’t bring myself to deduct a star. I’ll definitely be returning — and recommending Sadhu Vegetarian Restaurant to both locals and expats who want to experience the richness of Vietnamese...
Read moreMy friend and I visited the restaurant couple of days ago, both food and service was awesome. Today 13.07 we came back because we really loved the place, it was 16.59 the restaurant entrance seems closed there was even a delivery guy bringing in some supplies, no one was at the entrance they took their time to come down, finally a waiter came and informed us that it was open and that we could come in, the restaurant was totally empty but he seated us beside a pillar so I kindly asked if we could sit in the same table we sat there first time. He said there was a party reservation which we totally understood and then I asked for a different table then he said he had to ask his manager, he came back and said that unfortunately that only that table was available… then we just decided to leave. The “Manager was there by the entrance and saw us leaving and she did not even ask why we were leaving… 1.- The restaurant was almost empty therefore we found a bit odd that they did not allow us to sit in a nicer table 2.- we both work in hospitality and restaurant businesses and this was far from Been a welcoming experience. 3.- the lady by the entrance did not even try to be “welcoming or accommodating” 4.- at the time we went there that was 16:50 even if the all the other empty tables were reserved it was so early that they could just let us sit in a nicer table because we would have finished even before the rush hour started …
The lady that we spoke with first time we were there July 03rd late at night (we went there before taking our night train) was truly amazing, sweet and welcoming and she even mentioned that they had 3 more restaurants, gave us a card and we promised her to come back but this second visit was a totally ice bucket experience! So sad and...
