We had 2 spacious rooms on 4th floor, the family room facing the street with a view & the executive room at the back of building with no view but has an air well with ample daylight coming in from morning to dusk 👍🏼
TV has mostly Vietnamese channels however there are 4 channels in English; 3 channels that features up to date movies & 1 CNA news channel.
Generally the rooms are well kept & clean. However some of the fixtures needs maintenance like lubricating the door hinges for room 407, both the door that reveals the mini refrigerator creeks loudly & the door to the bathroom also creeks loudly especially during the dead of night.
The staff members are very good. They are friendly & helpful. The housekeeping lady Ms Huong is awesome despite the language barrier, she aims to please & has helped kept the rooms clean & tidy. And gone the extra mile.
Both breakfast chefs are good too, the Mr Luong the resident chef on Day 3 to day 8 made very nice breakfast which was simple but delicious. Also the in-house yogurt is a 9/10 👍🏼, the chicken noodle also a solid 9/10 👍🏼, we did not try the French toast, wished I did. Maybe next time 😃 … breakfast comes with two types of sliced up fruits: dragon fruit; one day white, other days purple; papaya or pineapple, red water melons. And daily there are bananas. Two types of drinks: calamasi lemony drink & passion fruit drink. Do note that we found almost all food & drinks in Vietnam are not overly salty or sweet which is good for those health conscious. So this observation applies to La Castela daily breakfast that comes with our room reservations.
Lastly, the frontdesk young team of reception staff, Ms Anna & Ms Pii who helped translate & also night shift staff Mr Thang was very helpful too. They made our stay memorable as they helped us with our queries & provided good suggestions & directions for food & point of interest. Like the massage spa about 5 units down to the right from hotel entrance.
4 stars only because some room features need attention which the hotel did try to correct during out stay. Wifi is generally okay at 8/10 score as it gets slow during our 7 night stay to be fair. We just reconnect to the other wifi network resolves on most days. Yes, this hotel has multiple wifi networks which I think is good for their boutique hotel that runs up to 5 floors.
The hotel is nestled in a very good location to get to very good Vietnamese food & beverages like coconut coffee at Chat Coffee Cafe. Also not too far walk to Circle-K which is like 7-Eleven, and to places like the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral. Very short walk like 3 1/2 mins.
Do go to nearby 24 hr Circle-K store (4, 5 min walk) for convenience items like chips & soda pop as the one of the local run stores, right opposite the hotel, do charge higher, at tourist prices 🙁. A bag of Lay’s potato chips (90 grams) cost 25K Dong at Circle-K will cost 35K Dong opposite the La Castela Hotel 🙄 … 40% mark-up which is...
Read moreA hidden Gem in the Heart of Hanoi. My wife and I chose the Hotel’s Limo service ($19) for the 40 minute, no hassle drive in a private van. The Driver was waiting for us with a named placard right outside the arrival gate. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted outside, offered complementary drinks and checked in while seated in the waiting room. We arrived late because of the traffic and were unable to make it to the bank to exchange money, so the Hotel manager lent us 500,000 dong ($20) until the next morning. The room was spacious, air-conditioned, strong Wi-Fi and the bathroom included a deep soak tub. The Morning breakfast is cooked to order and we found the Pho beef noodle soup they offered better than most of the restaurants outside. Fresh Coffee was available all day, another plus for us. The staff here is beyond helpful and attentive to anything that we needed. Maps, directions and recommendation were always available. Tour arrangements were offered at less than what we would have paid outside. The Hotel staff made us feel like we were at home at all times. The Hotel itself is located right in the Heart of old Hanoi. Restaurants, shops and coffee houses are just steps away, along with 2 major markets with a less than 15 minute walk. If you’re only staying a few days or longer, I cant recommend this Hotel enough. As soon as you arrive, all worries are put aside and you can enjoy Hanoi for all it has to offer. I would recommend that you get a SIM card, Wi-Fi reception is sparse...
Read moreI'm thrilled to write a review for a hotel that exceeded my expectations in terms of room quality, customer service, and local recommendations, especially from the outstanding manager, Tommy.
The hotel rooms were impeccably clean, spacious, and modern, with all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay. From the comfortable beds to the luxurious linens and the tastefully decorated interiors, the hotel rooms were truly top-notch.
However, what really stood out was the exceptional customer service provided by Tommy and the rest of the staff. Tommy was an absolute delight to work with - he went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable by providing excellent recommendations for local eateries and hangout spots. His local knowledge was unparalleled, and he was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we had a great time.
In addition to providing helpful recommendations, Tommy assisted with transportation arrangements, making our travels around the city a breeze. His friendly and approachable demeanor made us feel welcomed and at ease throughout our stay.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay, with exceptional customer service from Tommy and the rest of the staff. Their local knowledge and willingness to assist with all our needs truly made our trip an unforgettable experience.
