I checked in late in the evening around 8. Not even 10mins after the check-in, the front desk person came to the room and told us that we have to change the room because they are going to repair the room soon. I asked him why but he didn’t give us any details and just told us to come to the front desk to speak to his manager. We went downstairs and the concierge put me on the phone with his manager. The manager said the concierge is going to take us to the different hotel which is “one minutes away” and change our room with the “window view”. Instead of explaining or apologizing about the situation, he was basically telling us to change the hotel. To be honest, I was iffy about it since I read couple reviews that they had put customers into different hotel with various reasons. I didn’t have any choice, but I wanted to see the room first before making any decision. The guy took us to a HOSTEL called “Hanoi backpackers hostel” and he was handing me the room key instead of taking us to the room and showing us. I told him to walk us to the room and show it to us instead of just handing us the key. When we got to the room, he opened the door with the room key, but the door wasn’t even opening. I was terrified and wondered what would happen if I just accepted the key. I asked the guy for the refund because obviously I wasn’t comfortable with the place and the given situation. Also, they were violating the contract since we booked the place in advance and they just decided to repair the room the day which they knew someone was checking-in. We came back to the skyline hotel from the “hostel” and he put me on the phone with his manager again. I explained everything and said I want the refund because it was not what I signed for. Then, he said “NO REFUND” furiously and said we can just stay in the room that we booked and they will repair the room tomorrow afternoon after we check out. So we went back to our room, but we started to feel unsafe. Who else would feel comfortable with all the situations that happened here? We were two girls traveling from different country. With all this happened, we couldn’t trust the hotel and started to feel insecure. So we decided to leave it this hotel and find another hotel to stay. Of course, we didn’t get any refund since it was our choice leave. We had to leave the place to ensure our safety and security. It is just my honest experience. Unfortunately, I can’t give detailed feedback about the room since I checked in and checked out in an hour. Maybe I was there in the wrong place wrong time. Maybe your experience will be different from mine. I’m writing this review just in case the same thing happens to you and be aware. Thanks for reading my long honest review and safe trip everyone.Just for the record: Did I ask to change to the different room in the hotel? - Yes, I did ask and the concierge said there was no room left. However, when I walked into the room after checking in, my room door was opened empty as well as the room opposite from us. Did they have to fix something in urgent?- I believe not since we checked everything as soon as we walked in. The water was fine and ac was working fine. I asked the manager what they need to fix, then the manager said “no fix,” they just need to...
Read moreI have just finished a 4-day, 3-night stay at Skyline Hotel Hanoi and I was very satisfied, even beyond my expectations. From the moment I arrived at the hotel, I was warmly welcomed, friendly and professional. The reception staff were always smiling, enthusiastically supporting all requests - from early check-in, booking taxis, to introducing local dining and sightseeing places. ||The room was clean, spacious and elegantly decorated. I was especially impressed with the comfortable bed, soft pillows and quiet space - all contributing to a good night's sleep after a day of exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter. The bathroom was modern, fully equipped with amenities such as a hairdryer, strong and continuous hot water, and towels were changed every day. ||The buffet breakfast, although not very diverse, was of good quality and full of Asian and European dishes. In particular, I really enjoyed the traditional Vietnamese dishes such as pho, vermicelli and sticky rice served hot every morning. The restaurant staff were also very friendly, always ready to bring more coffee or serve dishes upon request.||The location of Skyline Hotel is really a big plus – located right in the old quarter, just a few minutes walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, Dong Xuan Market and famous tourist attractions. However, the hotel still maintains its quiet and private atmosphere, very suitable for visitors who want to rest after walking around.||What I appreciate most is the dedication and professionalism of the staff – from the manager, receptionist to the room staff. They are always ready to support and make me feel like I am at home, not just a normal guest.||I will definitely return to Skyline Hotel Hanoi in the future and will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and relatives. Thank you for a...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE! TERRIBLE MANAGER AND LEAKING SEWER WATER!
It was our last night on our vacation and we looked forward to spending a couple extra dollars on hostel that was in a quiet location and included a private room.
During our stay of what was supposed to be 4 nights, we got moved through 3 different rooms. The first two did not include what was listed, a single double bed in the first, and a window in the second. Once we got our third room (which was on our second day in the morning that was clearly empty from the night before… don’t know why they didn’t just give us this one) we dealt with multiple leaking problems in the bathroom including the ceiling, faucet and shower. While the ceiling and faucet may be quick fixes, the shower drain began to flood the bathroom with what smelled like sewer water, following with the same sewer smell to fill our room. We immediately asked to change rooms once again (room 4 in two days) and got offered two terrible offers. One, to walk to their partner hostel for (what they say would be) a similar room in the pouring monsoon rain with no discount on our expensive stay, or, to leave with only a 10% discount. Both of these option were completely unacceptable and upon calling the manager they gave us no remorse and were clearly just interested in taking our money and having us leave as soon as possible.
I wish I could give this hotel 0 stars. I’ve been traveling for 2.5 months now and this has been, without a doubt, the worst accommodation I’ve experienced so far.
I would highly advise any travelers to...
