Luminous Viet Hotel — Hotel in Hà Nội

I dont exactly know where to start with this hotel. I came to Hanoi with low expectation since vietnam is still considered a third world country.

Upon our initial entrance I already found that the hotel was very noisy and that it had close to no lighting in the hallways. There is definitely some horror movie elements to this hotel.

But once at the counter the manager told us that for some reason our room was already booked because some other clients decided to stay longer. Having booked everything on agoda I figured they must have some kind of arrangement for those kind of situations but no.

The manager suggested us to another hotel which was a downgrade in terms of room and district. After 15min of arguments we finallly found on agoda that the hotel accross the street should be somewhat acceptable.

The manager proceeded into making phone calls which took another 30min to finally tell us that they can arrange for the hotel accross the street but that we will have to pay the difference. This is where I realized that they were not planning on taking any responsibility.

We obviously refused and she left for another 15min. Finally after an hour of back and forth the manager decided to give us our original rooms. At this point ive spent 1hr at the lobby with my luggages after a 12 hour flight and my question is why did I have to go through this.

And yes upon entering the rooms... They were as disappointing as everything else....

Staff was friendly and tended to all of our needs. Bell man helped us with our bags and always opened the door for us even at late hours as he slept in the lobby.

Great price but the rooms are rather dated. Internet was slow. Early check in is about $10. Floors in the room could be cleaned better. Rather than just mopping they could be swept with a broom and mopped afterwards.

Excellent location in old town. Great Banh Bao to eat to the left as you exit the hotel.

Horrible. Avoid if you can. "Their best room" with balcony was dirty. Furniture had crumbs and shopping bags left behind from previous guest. My jacuzzi bath tub smelled like sewer when turned on. Room shares the same air vent with other room and I can hear EVERYTHING my neighbor was doing: brushing teeth, talking and coughing. With so much other competition for $45 USD, they offer nothing.
