Our stay at Viethouse Homestay was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived, the host was unbearable—extremely rude, loud, and completely inconsiderate. Every morning at 6 AM, her voice echoed throughout the entire house, making it impossible to rest. She had no respect for guests and acted as if she owned the entire space, treating everyone with hostility. The rooms were filthy, the bathroom was disgusting, and the shower was constantly clogged. However, the worst part was what happened on the terrace. My partner sat down for just five minutes, and when he got up, he barely touched a glass table next to another one, which had no tablecloth or protection. The table instantly shattered, creating a dangerous situation. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt, but it could have been much worse. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the host immediately started yelling at us, blaming us entirely and demanding full payment for the table. When we calmly asked to see the security camera footage, she lost control—she screamed at us, threatened to call the police, and completely refused to show us any evidence. Her aggressive and unhinged behavior made us feel unsafe. In the end, just to get out of that toxic environment, we paid half the amount and left. This woman is one of the rudest and most disrespectful hosts I have ever encountered. She has no professionalism, no manners, and no concern for guest safety. Staying here was a horrible experience, and I strongly advise avoiding this place at all costs

Original As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with many advertisements and bombarded us with paid services such as massages, taxis and tours. They wanted to take 250k vnd for an early check in at 8AM but it was negotiated as there was the same room on agoda for significantly cheaper than said price. As I was using the washroom, the old lady with the glasses asked if anyone was in the room and I screamed “I was”and she didnt hear and went into the room and turned off the lights. Zero respect for peoples privacy and it’s unfortunate the other reviews mentioning how they go into the room without your permission is true. After she turned off the lights, she went back into the room so I came out of the bathroom asking whats going on. The old lady the apologized and left and didn’t even lock the door. I felt very violated and this is completely inappropriate. They even saw me walk into the hotel minutes prior. As i left the building she apologized again and blamed it on a power outage. If you do intend to stay at this hotel please make sure to hide or bring your valuables with you. They advise you to be quiet at 7PM which was pretty annoying because we weren’t loud at all and the only noise we made wass walk to the washroom, which they also texted us and told us to be quiet as a result of this. They lock all the front gates at 7:30PM which was way too early as Hoi an is known for its nightlife. Leaving and Entering is incredibly tedious as there are many locks on the door and they are super loud. This review is as of August 2023, please note a significant number of the other reviews are from 4-8 years ago so the rooms are definitely worn down compared to back then.

Comfortable rooms, host was very friendly but a little intrusive when asking about our stay. She advised us on where to eat and what to do and had some great recommendations. Bathroom didn't include usual amenities such as toothbrush, soap etc which we have had in every other hotel/homestay in Vietnam. Large room and clean. We had a joining door to another room which I didn't like but lucky for us no one was staying in the adjoining room. A little tricky to find as hotel sign doesn't have the English name but I have posted the sign on he outside of the building so hopefully you don't do what we did and walk up and down the street about 5 times to find it :)

I stayed here for 3 nights in December. It was a manageable walk from the bus station and only 15 mins from the old town centre. The homestay is in a quiet street so I could sleep really well. The room was huge and comfortable, I even had a balcony, bathroom was a good size as well. The room was clean, though it was not serviced for the 3 days that I stayed there – though personally I didn’t mind as I’m clean and didn’t generate much rubbish and I don’t mind to use the same towel for 3 days. I didn’t have breakfast included in my stay but within a short walk there are cafes (few of them open early in the morning, in case you need to pick up something before a day trip), there’s a great vegetarian restaurant 5 mins walk from the homestay with cooking classes, and there’s also a small corner shop at the end of the street.||I found the owner of the homestay pleasant and helpful, she gave me a free map and made suggestions on places to visit plus recommended a tailor, and we booked a My Son day trip. I also asked her to book a night train for me but due to high season this was sold out, I didn’t want to do a hard sleeper for the price that they quoted so I went with a sleeper bus which was a lot cheaper and she booked it for me. Sadly the bus was really poor quality with broken and torn seats, a very smelly toilet and a driver who constantly beeped the horn all night. I wouldn’t take this journey again, but this has obviously nothing to do with the lady who booked it. Overall I recommend...

Stayed 5 nights at this homestay. Overall our experience was ok.

Yes our room was clean, we had a clean bed & bathroom and it was a good price. However, the host was constantly trying to sell us a tour/transfer and really I just didn’t like this feeling.

Our room was unfortunately connecting to another so we didn’t sleep very well for 4 out of the 5 nights as the other room was occupied & noisy. The first time in Vietnam were we were expected to pay for water in our room. We didn’t, we got our own water and owner told us it was the same price as the home stays… (very nosey in my opinion and feels very intruding).

We arrived and immediately before we even had keys to our room the owner was trying to sell us everything before even getting our names. What our schedule was for the next few days etc, we really didn’t like this feeling and it felt very intrusive and personally we don’t like giving this much information. Plus we already had everything planned as we are planners so the owner wasn’t too happy.

The bed didn’t have a proper blanket so we only had a fitted sheet and the bed wasn’t that comfortable. There is a lot of noise as the window in the bathroom doesn’t close and we had a dog constantly barking our entire stay, alongside the interconnecting room, really wasn’t ideal.

The cleaner & man who was there in the evenings were super kind and really made us feel so welcome however the constant selling is just a lot when you arrive and throughout your stay. We...
