We'd seen the amount of great reviews for this restaurant and decided to check it out.

The restaurant itself is the most unassuming place imaginable, there were no other guests and we were a little worried it wasn't the correct place. But once the food arrived we knew it was the place with all the amazing reviews.

The food was the most honest home style cooking we've eaten so far in Vietnam, incredibly tasty, fresh, well presented, absolutely delicious and obviously made with passion for cooking. The price was really reasonable too!! I cannot believe we were the only guests for almost an hour when another group appeared.

The food is absolutely amazing. Great and reasonable prices. The family who runs this little restaurant are super attentive and try their best to help you.

We really liked the Cáo Lâu and the Báhn Xèo. The Ray Chay was really good, too!

My only complaint is the atmosphere. It's outside their house on the patio. This is fine, but in hot weather, it can be problematic. They don't have fans to aim at the tourists. If you're hot... you're going to stay hot. The tables are a little cramped, so it's hard to be totally comfortable.

But all that said... the food. Good god, the...

So glad we found Restaurant Carot during our time in Hoi An. We ended up coming here twice for a late lunch. It is very small and not many tables but that shouldnt put you off. The food was very tasty, fresh and very reasonably priced for the area. The staff were also super friendly and helpful. I would recommend coming here if you woud like to try all the hoi an specialitys and also if your veggie as they are just as good as the meat options. We had their Cau Lau (meat and veggie option), Pho Ga and veggie Banh Xeo...
