Three letters, "W.O.W." is what comes to mind when I think of our stay at the Wafaifo Hotel. It is kind of funny how we chose the Waifaifo hotel (3N4D), which started with a Google search and ended with three choices between the Almanity, Silk Essence, and the Wafaifo, which our 11-year-old son chose in the end. My Korean wife and I were okay with all three, but we were curious why the Almanity (next door) was double the price, but the hotels looked very similar in amenities, size, and location. We were lucky our son chose well and he had two main reasons. The first was that the Waifaifo hotel's pool is heated (Almanity's is not), and there is a substantial indoor movie theater for up to 8-10 people.
At check-in, we were greeted by several staff members and a few women making banana leaf-wrapped rice and pork. They asked us if we wanted to have a mini-cooking class, and we made this traditional dish for the Lunar New Year celebration.
We ended up watching movies on two different nights (try the 299,000 VND-about $12- package). The movie package was AWESOME, with grilled corn-on-the-cob fingers, fries, 2 small beers, a chocolate brownie, and, of course, a movie from either Netflix or their menu of 1000+ movies.
We liked this hotel so much that we extended our stay for a fourth night (another free bottle of wine) at the same room rate. We will use the 1-way transfer to take us to another hotel 10 minutes away (Silk Sense Hotel), which is closer to the beach and farther from the Old Town area.
The staff: The best! Super friendly and speaks English. We had at least 3-4 staff check on us at every meal, and they tried to connect with more than just hi/hello/good morning. They asked us about our trip, stay, where we were from, etc. This made us feel very welcome. They would come by our table regularly and ask to get us another Americano, etc. This hotel may be new, but the staff are seasoned pros at guest satisfaction. This also started from the get-go. We booked the non-refundable 3N4D rate, but I told the staff that I booked directly through their website after finding them on Agoda because they offered a bottle of wine and 1-way airport transfer with the booking. I was told it was the "Special package," which was the same rate as the non-refundable. They asked me to make a 2nd booking, and they would then cancel my "non-refundable" booking. This is the benefit of booking directly on their website.
The facilities: Amazing! We loved the heated pool and spent hours in it, even though the weather was not very warm (20C-22C) the first few days, but it went up to 24-25C the next few days. The movie room is fantastic for families, and we even brought in our complimentary bottle of wine and enjoyed it there.
The room is very spacious and has well-stocked Wafaifo-labelled bottled water (6 in the room and 2 in the bathroom), which is free and refilled daily. We got the 1st floor garden terrace, which gave us a nice outdoor space near the pool, where I could work on my laptop.
The food: Every day, there are two different freshly squeezed juices, a new Pho, and a huge selection of fresh-baked bread, salads, and a bit of everything. My son ate well (he is picky), and so did my wife, who loved the variety for Asian guests.
The location: Fantastic. 10 minutes on foot to Old Town. Go out of the hotel and turn right. At the next intersection, turn left (don't get hit by a motorbike) and walk straight for 10-12 minutes until you hit the river.
Spa: My wife will try it today, and she said the oxygen chamber treatment (scary for me...lol) is high on her to-do list today. We tried two 90-minute massage treatments-Amazing!
The verdict: Book it fast because 50% cheaper than its neighbors will not last when more people learn of this gem, located 10 minutes on foot from...
Read moreWow just wow. This resort is absolutely amazing. Booking was via a luxury escapes purchase. Communications with hotel reception from the start, up to our arrival was great. Hotel driver was waiting at DaNang airport with a hotel sign, a short walk to the car (Volvo) & headed to Hoi An. Cold towels & water provided in the car for the trip. Upon arrival at the hotel we were impressed by the external view of the hotel, 2 massive doors open into the air conditioned reception area. We were greeted by the reception staff & offered a cold refreshment & cold towels, our luggage whisked away to be taken to our room. We were taken through the checkin process & shown all the amenities & services via an iPad. We were then escorted to our room on the ground floor over looking the pool & shown how to use the in room amenities. The room is very large & has a king size bed, lounge table & chairs, its well appointed & has electric sheer & blockout curtains, the windows have a privacy screen so you can see out but no one can see in. The blue theme in the bathroom & out into the main room is great. The bathroom also had a privacy screen from the bedroom you can switch on / off. The king bed was comfortable, the pillows are large & soft, so if you are used to a hard pillow you might need to ask for one, they do have a pillow menu available. The pool area is amazing with it being temperature controlled, there are plenty of pool loungers as well as chairs & tables by the pool bar. The life guard on duty is super friendly & looks after this area with pride. His towel rolling skills are next level, he sets up all the loungers in order & keeps the area clean. He keeps an eye on everyone & everything making sure no one jumps in the pool & hotel guests are comfortable. Dining at the restaurant upstairs is a colourful experience, its blue & yellow theme is refreshing. The menu has a lot of Asian & Western food options for breakfast & dinner. They have a 2 for 1 drink deal at night (6-8pm). We enjoyed the steak night (wed & sat nights), the steaks cooked in the Josper grille were perfect, as were the sides that we ordered. We also enjoyed a Seafood dinner on the Monday night & it too was amazing, freshly cooked right in front of you. Pool bar staff were great & attentive to any needs for food & drinks. We enjoyed exceptional service every day. Restaurant staff were so friendly, always smiling. Angela was super friendly & checked in on us to make sure everything was in order. Doyle & Layla in the Day spa have hands of gold, we had the aromatherapy massage & it was great. We met Van during our stay, she is amazing & fully committed to ensuring guests have an enjoyable stay at the hotel. She was always checking in to see if we needed anything. When travelling it’s the little things that make a great holiday & Wafaifo has nailed it when it comes to hotel location, vision & its amenities, the staff are what makes this place amazing. We will definitely be back & highly recommend this hotel which is only 800m from the old city.
