During our travels in Vietnam, we ate a good vegan/vegetarian food at a number of restaurants. Quite often though, I would spend 150k, and still leave the restaurant hungry.
The thing is, I eat vegetarian food, and I like a big portion, while not spending 250k for a meal.
This restaurant, hidden in an alley, has it all. It is perfect. They serve big portions of delicious food for a really great price! The ambience of the restaurant is pleasant, and the tables and chairs are actually very comfortable. The people running this restaurant (it is a family business) are super nice and proficient in english.
We had vegan banh mi (tofu, veggies), noodles with tofu and veggies, and banana and chocolate pancakes. We actually tried banh mi from most of well-known Hoi An's vegan/vegetarian banh mi restaurants and street stalls, and this is the one with, hands down, the best ratio of quantity/quality to the price. It is also the best banh mi I had in Hoi An so far, and one of two best banh mis I had in Vietnam.
Overall, this is a nice restaurant, run by nice people. They sell big portions of freshly made delicious food, for a really, really great price. A lot of vegetarian/vegan options. My favourite restaurant in Hoi An.
I also have a suggestion for the owners: there is a fairly popular app called "Happy Cow," which we use to find vegetarian/vegan restaurants. You guys might want to add your place to this app, as you have a lot of...
Read moreHot Bread in Hoi An serves the best banh mi we’ve ever tasted—and we’ve tried banh mi all over the world! It was so incredible that we went back every single day during our stay, and on the days we couldn’t make it to the shop, we ordered it on Grab. The ingredients are so fresh, the meat perfectly juicy, and the bread warm and crunchy—it’s a game-changer.
We highly recommend the mixed banh mi with egg—it’s a flavour explosion! And don’t miss the banana pancake with chocolate sauce; it’s absolutely delicious.
The highlight, though, is the lovely family running the shop. They’re so welcoming, and even their children are delightful (and their English is fantastic!). Visiting Hot Bread is an absolute must if you’re in Hoi An. You’ll love it—we...
Read moreWe’re in Hoi An for a couple of weeks and are making sure to try the local cuisine including banh mi. We’ve tried a few different spots including Banh Mi Queen and so far this is our top spot. The bread is fresh — a light crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, the veggies are also fresh and my favorite is the pate — so flavorful! Our 9 year old lovvvves pork sandwiches and this joint has his loyalty. On top of the yummy food, you can expect to be greeted with welcome and warmth. Literally a mom and pop shop.
I imagine we’ll continue to be back during our stay and will recommend it to folks traveling here. This place can be challenging to find as it’s sandwiched between two storefronts but well...
