Veronique is a lovely helpful lady apparently running this large hostel all on here own. The whole place is oldie world and rustic but has everything that the outdoor type person backpacker could wish for. It is really quiet for a hostel as Im a light sleeper and never had any issues sleeping. ||I would not hesitate in staying here again if travelling on my own or with like minded travellers. ||||For those wondering about lockers and safety.||There were no lockers in the room I stayed in, however you could only get into the room if you had the key or if someone else was in the room. There was plenty of room under the beds for kit. I had a 150 litre holdall full of kit including ropes crampons and the usual ice climbing kit and had no issues.||The other room mates who I never knew always seemed to leave there electric power packs out on charge with their mobiles in full view, so they were obviously safe in the knowledge the hostel was safe.||I wasn't that trusting myself and never left any valuables about, but it seems others had no issues. ||There is also a small friendly bar opposite that does food and is open until late even though the main area of Chamonix is less than 5 mins walk downhill. ||If like me you want to test yourself against the Chamonix Vertical Kilometre run under the ski lift, then this place is the ideal place to stay as its right along side the ski lift and you are out and up instantly. I was up top watching the spectacular sunrise all on my own, pure...

The showers and bathrooms are shared and are kept clean. And although there is only 3 of each, even when the hostel is full it never feels crowded. This also happens to be the cheapest accommodation in Chamonix at...
