I had booked for their gin making class but sadly it was cancelled due to lack of numbers (the Olympics has sadly not being the friend of a lot of business). Charlotte, one of the owners, did invite me to come for a tasting, which I'm very glad I did. The place is stunning, beautiful in a preserved building. Charlotte showed me all the botanicals they use and their history. The dry gin they make was excellent, needless to say, I left with a bottle. I will certainly try and book again, on my next visit. Also, the distillery is attached to an equally excellent and helpful wine store that also does tastings. My plan, as my husband is not a gin lover, is to park him with the wine while I go make the gin. This review is for the gin making workshop at Distillerie de l'arbre sec. Their products are wonderful, and if you want to try your hand at making your own gin, you can also have the chance to attend a workshop at the distillery. We had Lucile as our teacher who was kind and patient and did a wonderful job of introducing us to the process of distilling and the flavors that go into the gin-making process. You also get to taste some samples along the way. You will create your own label and bottle your own gin that you get to take home. What a hidden gem! Such a fun experience we had with Charlotte to celebrate our mother's birthday. The tour of the distillery and still was super informative but also brief. The 2 1/2 hours flew by with specialty cocktails, botanical selection, cheese plate, distilling process and label making. Honestly couldn't recommend a better activity for those who like gin or want to learn more about it. We left very happy with full bottles of not only our gin but several other limited editions.
