I highly recommend Sukura Photo Studio Kimono to everybody who is looking for an authentic kimono experience with a super friendly staff and awesome services. My husband and I used their outdoor photo plan and it was fantastic.
In my opinion, Sukura Photo Studio Kimono has reasonable prices for their services. My husband and I went with the simple kimono package which comes with a kimono, a bag, a flower hair clip and hair making. There were a lot of choices for me to choose from. However, I chose to pay extra only for my flower hair clip because I didn’t like the ones that came with the package. After I picked the kimono that I liked, a staff member put it on for me and checked from head to toe to make sure that everything was right and looked good and she also checked again right before I left for the photo shoot. Their kimonos are high quality and very authentic from what I could feel from the fabric.
Hiroshi was our photographer and we loved all of the photos he took. He also acted like a tour guide explaining the history behind the places as we walked and took photos. It was such an amazing experience. We had so much fun dressing in kimonos and exploring around Sensoji Temple
The location of the Sukura Photo Studio Kimono is very easy to find. It’s only about 2 blocks away down the road from Sensoji temple.
They take a lot of pictures and send you all of them so you have probably over a hundred pictures to choose your favorites, and you can still keep the rest as well.
Thank you for providing a great service for us, we definitely will use Sukura Photo Studio...

I’ve been to Sakura Photo Studio twice, and each time has been fantastic. I’ve been lucky enough to try both their Regular and Luxury sets. With both sets you get to choose: a kimono, obi, hair accessory and bag! Patient and professional, the employees and owners make you feel welcomed in their space. And never uncomfortable as they fit you into their kimonos. If you get overwhelmed by the sheer number of kimono available, the ladies are happy to help recommend fabric choices. Their style of obi bows is my favorite, too – more mature and elegant. It’s like a flower in the back of the kimono. Also, on my 2nd trip they added a new service. Rickshaw ride! It’s a collaboration that lets guests ride a rickshaw at a discounted price – much cheaper than buying a ride from the many companies on the main street. Believe me, this service will make your experience in Asakusa even better. Our rickshaw driver was extremely friendly, and knowledgeable. You’ll get to see and learn so much of the area AND be seen and admired! People will take videos and pictures, it’s guaranteed. If a rickshaw ride isn’t something you’d like to do, they also offer a photoshoot service. Both in studio or outside. Prices vary, but I did it my first time and I really enjoyed how the photos turned out. Personally, this is my go to place when I have to take friends around Tokyo, and they want a kimono experience. Highly recommend...
Read moreI had a few days on my own while visiting Tokyo. I was looking for something to do that would be interesting and expose me to Japanese culture. I decided to do Sakura Photo Studio's basic kimono styling plan and outdoor photo plan. The studio has so many kimonos it was hard to choose just one. They were all very beautiful and in very good condition. The young ladies that did the kimono dressing and hair styling were very nice and skilled at their jobs. They did not speak a lot of English, but were able to communicate the necessary information. They lent me a lovely handmade purse for my valuables and had me put my other belongings in a tagged, zippered bag. Mr. Hiroshi Terauchi, founder of the studio and chief photographer, then took me on a walking tour/photo shoot of the beautiful and historic Askusa neighborhood where their studio is located. I learned a lot about the history of Tokyo (Edo), Askusa Shrine and Sensijo Temple. Mr. Terauchi spoke excellent English, and took many creative photos. Our walking tour lasted almost an hour and a half. I was able to keep the kimono until 5pm, but I chose to walk around Askusa about another hour and then return to the studio to change. I received an email with even more high definition photos than I expected about a week after my experience. There were many good photos and I was very happy with everything. I would highly recommend Sakura...
