Not really the agency’s fault but the Klias wetlands tour is not worth it all!

The tour consists of: driving around KK for ONE HOUR to pick up people in different hotels in a cramped van driving 2 hours to the destination a buffet afternoon tea with loads of other tour buses a 1.5 hour boat ride with more than 20 people on the boat. There were 2 guides on the boat talking at the same time so we found it hard to understand anything. They also didn’t tell people to be quiet so any time we saw a monkey they go scared because everyone was so loud you see some monkeys very far away, not even close enough for a picture and no other wildlife go back for an average dinner

The only nice part was the fireflies at the end of the tour but I wouldn’t waste your time...

We checked TripAdvisor for tours in and around Kota Kinabalu and found Only In Borneo running a sail down Klias River in search of Proboscis Monkey and Fireflies I checked their website and was able to book the same trip cheaper booking directly. They pick up from your hotel and drive you to their base on the Klias river. 1hr 50 to 2 hrs depending on traffic. We met a couple from Sydney Australia who had been on this same tour 4 times and had never failed to see Proboscis monkeys and the Firefly display. Don't be too disappointed that you will struggle to film or photo the Fireflies in the dark, just enjoy the display. Highly recommend this tour and they are happy to accomodate vegetarians with food they provide. Cost booked directly for 2 adults was MYR 320...

We went on Kilas River Cruise with OIB and had a unique experience. Our guide, Shamlee (Mr. Sam) was a real expert of the surrounding nature. Our trip was educative and adventuorus. We saw plenty of proboscis monkeys from an extremly close perspective and gain many exciting insights of these special creatures. After we had an authentic and tasty buffet dinner together we continued our journey with observing the firefiles.
