Tong Hing Supermarket — Local services in Borneo

I've seen this supermarket evolve from the early 80s and it probably is the best amongst the worst lot. We don't have great options in KK and T.H is more expensive than their competitors. They used to sell the best chicken rice in town. Now it tastes like a low budget airline option so their chefs have changed. There is way too much food imports in their selections and I wish their purchasing department would make a real effort to source for good local and organic options. The way they pack their chicken is pathetic. You should present and sell as half a chicken or whole chicken and 8 drumstick packs for families and not just for singles or couples. Corn fed is not as healthy as free range, free of hormones and antibiotics. Why don't you start that process? You have had nearly half a century to refine the fresh meats section. Having said all this, you are still the best in KK but below average by global standards. I would give you a 3 star not a 4 because of the chicken rice situation. That was my comfort food and your best menu...

Yes mostly imported goods. Many say the price is exhorbitantly expensive. Just make a bit of research and find out the price back in the country of origin. Eg, cartwright &butler cookies and cakes, etc.. dolphins do not send these goodies right at the door step of Tong Hing S 🙈. If you are local and frequent Tong Hing, you should be an expert by now, shop wiser and look around for familiar conor/section .

Kudos to counter staff. They literally remember( tried their best) customer membership number -even after you deserted them for months 😂.

Yes, parking policy is weird to the majority. What option do they have? They try to give ardent customer the best experience and convenience. Unfortunately the location is 2/5 in regards to parking facilities( full capacity most of the time).

Tong Hing staffers are very friendly, helpful, accommodative, and they seem to be well taken care of by the management. Staff retention rate is very high. Many familar faces after many years. good to see...

Im one of the customer that always visit for my glocery weekly. Very sad and terrify by one of the security No PK1822 as he mention to me not to park in if i dont drop the car key with them while i told him someone inside the car while i would like to drop by to get some quick glocery. He asking me to do double park if the car key not to be pass over. I told him nicely i used to do it with other security and no issue with it. However he reply me very harstly “who is that?! No next time just do double park. Its very terrified feeling to meet this kind of security that not helping nicely instead busy with phone, Very sad to be over with Tong Heng due to this issue.
