If you find yourself in Cabo looking to get on the water or in the water you won't go wrong booking a trip with Cabo Trek. I booked a 4-hour snorkeling trip for my wife and son and it did not disappoint. Our guide Vanuza met us at the office she packed up the equipment we needed and then lead us to the boat where we meet our captain Fredy. Vanuza was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. On the way out to the first site, we found an injured Sea lion with a fishing line around its neck and she took pictures so she could report it to a local group that will try to help the animal. As we continued on our way Fredy and Vanuza spotted three Humpback whales. We weren't expecting to see whales and we were just as excited to see them as Fredy and Vanuza were. Instead of speeding off once we saw them, we stayed until they resurfaced less than 100 feet behind us. Fredy turned the boat around and we followed them at a safe distance until they dove again. If this was the whole trip we would've counted it a successful trip. Once we made it to our first site at Chileno Bay we were in the water within minutes. Vanuza was in the water with us and guided us for about an hour exploring the beautiful waters, even though we didn't find a reef shark Vanuza worked hard looking for one. Once back in the boat Vanuza gave us options for our second site. On the way, I spotted the whales again pretty far in the distance, and Fredy turned the boat and had us there within minutes for a third and fourth look at them then we were back on our way to our second site. Once there it was a little busy as it is close to the beach that is easily accessed by water taxi. It was still a good time and we had Sea lions swimming with us which was a new experience. There were a lot of other boats but Fredy maneuvered us into a great spot and made sure we were safe from the other boats while exiting and entering the water. It was a great day and I couldn't have asked for a better captain than Fredy and our guide Vanuza. I love to support good local companies and guides when traveling and Cabo Trek is one of these companies. They are easy to communicate with, the booking process was easy and I received several emails with detailed directions and meeting locations. Next time we are in Cabo I will definitely book another...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about my trip (Espiritu Santo Island) and would like to write a review in order to help make it even better since I know it has amazing potential. My first surprise was that while our guide was kind and fun, she wasn't a marine biologist as was described on the webpage. She was relatively knowledgeable, but the website said "They are guided by marine biologists who will provide detailed information about the island, its history, and all the wildlife encountered during the tour." and we didn't quite get that from her.
My biggest disappointment however, was that we felt like we hardly had any time in the water to snorkel. I've snorkeled a handful of times on vacations before and since it's not something I do often, I always feel as though I need a little time once in the water getting used to breathing, figuring out how to clear my mask, etc. We probably had about 20 minutes in the water and it felt as though as soon as I was starting to relax and enjoy, it was time to get out. Since the website said "this tour focuses on snorkeling" I thought we'd have a lot more time in the water. With that said, the snorkeling that we did do was great and it was so much fun to be around the sea lions. I just wanted more!
Finally, we arranged for transportation from our resort to/from the pickup location ahead of time as was recommended in our confirmation email. That worked great on the way there, but we were over an hour late arriving back and missed our ride. We were very grateful that our guide gave us a ride back to our resort, but it would probably have been better to either be more punctual with the return timing, advise us to have our transportation pick us up at a later time just in case, or to just take an Uber. Honestly, we'd just Uber if we did it again since Uber was so easy to use in the area.
I really appreciated how mindful of wildlife and nature this company seems to be and I would consider using them again, but would love if they took these comments into...
Read moreWe traveled to Cabo for vacation and I decided to do my scuba certification while I was there. I was initially looking at doing it through our resort, but I had a friend traveling with me that was already certified and I wanted him to tag along on our open water dives. Our resort would not accommodate this, but Cabotrek didn’t even hesitate and were happy to oblige. I found them on Google, talk to them over WhatsApp and they were very good at explaining all the details and working with me on my concerns. My instructor (Silvia) was amazing! She was so patient, an excellent teacher, explaining everything in detail, and worked very hard to keep me comfortable. She was unwavering on the instruction and worked with me to ensure I learned all the concepts to safely dive in the future. She was also really fun. We shared a love for the ocean and marine life. She has a ton of experience all over the world and was able to share stories of her travels and dives. Very enjoyable to have her there. The boat Captain/operator (Adrian) was great too. Very accommodating, helpful, and supporting. Always checking in, making sure we were comfortable and ready. Very impressive operator as well. (If you ever see how tight the marina is, you’ll understand what I mean). It was a very pleasant experience. The price was extremely reasonable. They always had snacks and drinks for us. It was just a super super pleasant experience. I was a bit worried about swimming the 200meters that is required by PADI, and Silvia swam next to me the whole time, ensuring that I was comfortable, cheering me on, and taking my mind of off the task. If you are looking for a great place to do your certification, you can’t beat this place. We will be back, I will plan dives with Silvia and Adrian in the future and excursions with CaboTrek. They have some super cool options. I want to come back to do some whale...
