We just wanted a small bite to eat before we went out for dinner. Thought we would give this teeny-tiny corner spot a try since staff had been flagging us down to come over for couple days now. We stayed at Tesoro resort, so basically, why not … right?
Omg… The Paloma drinks were the bomb! Los Claros definitely had bragging rights there. Props to the bartender on Thur 2/20/25 630pm. And, since we all love seafood, we thought fish tacos would be the perfect bite. Well, unlike their Paloma drinks, fish tacos were nothing worth to brag about.
Our fish taco plates were served with one tortilla, and two fish strips/pieces. I’m guessing, they truly are representing small bites. Not very generous in size (comparing to what I’m use to in Rosarito and Ensenada). Fish tacos presentation was plain, but a trio-tray of condiments were offered on the side to spruce up our tacos. Of course, to our liking. We had to ask for another tray as the cabbage had been immediately consumed by one person already. Again, not so generous with portioning.
The server was not at all attentive/active but was sweet and timid. Could be a language barrier or simply shy. I always say, though, anyone in the “serving” industry, there is absolutely no room to be shy about. It’s all about connections with your customers.
I was not a fan of Los Claros fish tacos. It lacked, crisp and crunch, as if missing the batter the fish was suppose to be dipped in. If anything, the fish itself was soggy and floppy. Mash potato like. It lacked “meat” and firmness. Hence, small portioned. After spicing up my tacos though, it came to life, but only in the taste department.
Would I try Los Claros fish tacos again? Yes. Hopefully, the next time, their fish taco dish will be new and improved… crispy and crunchy batter, firm and generous portioned fish. Los Claros, let’s...
Read moreOne of the worst places I've ever eaten at in Mexico unfortunately. Before sitting down with a group for lunch we discussed our timeline and when we needed to be done with the waiter. Waiter said no problem, etc. 30+ minutes to get our drinks. 45+ minutes to get two guacamole and chips. 1+ hour for a room temp surf and turf taco. Another 20 minutes for a fried fish taco. Neither were served with any of the typical accouterments like limes, Pico, salsa, chipotle sauce, cabbage, etc. We had been there for over 1.5 hrs and half our groups food still had no arrived. 80% of our group had to leave for an excursion. Half apologies for "being understaffed" were given. We canceled the remaining undelivered food and asked for the check. Was told they could not take card because system was down so had to leave my wife there to find an atm. Bill was a solid 50$ + more than we estimated it should be based on what was ordered and delivered. Finally paid the bill and left.after 2+ hours after first sitting down. Just a terrible experiance overall. Sad too because I feel like their food would be decent if they can fix some...
Read moreNot sure what rating to give this location, since the Google Maps View gives the wrong location, and Los Claros Marina cannot be seen from the Diamond store that the pin says it's at as of Dec 2022. I requested they move it where the business actually is, which is south of Blvd. Paseo de la Marina, in the entryway to the Marina under the Hotel Tesoro bridge (look for the thatched roof on the left just past the Diamanté / Casanova diamond shop). We asked the locals where the business was, and they (incorrectly) told us it was closed, and directed us to the other Los Claros location, which was 10 minutes north :-(. The good news was that the Baja Fish Tacos were the best ever! (But do ask about how spicy items are - the Marlin taco was inedibly hot as served, and many of the sauces are only intended for locals who like food much hotter than most gringos.). The prices were very reasonable, and I liked the "self-serve" options at the well-stocked bar they had to...
