Baja Cantina Cabo — Restaurant in City Centre

We have loved this place, but on our last day we brought the 5lbs of grade A fresh caught tuna. They come out and try to say there are parasites in the fish. We inspect it and see nothing wrong with it, we tell them to slice some up and sear some. They come back with a card to fill out and sign in an effort to have us tell them to throw it away - we don't, we fill out the form and sign it. Then they come out a third time with fish that is a different color and cut up and tell us again that they can't do it. We tell them to just wrap the fish up and we'll take it back to the processor. We bring what they gave us back to the fish house and the lady running if for the last 19 years freaks out about what we told her happened and then she weight the fish also, 3.9lbs of sandwich grade tuna. She was all pissed off at the restaurant. They took 5lbs of sushi grade tuna and gave back 3.9lbs so grade D tuna. I couldn't believe after all our visits there and the money we spent, they hustled us out...

Wow, I was really embarrassed yesterday when I brought my friends from out of town. Not only was the food not up to the usual standard of Baja Cantina (while the food presentation was impressive, the fettuccini was so bland it was tasteless and the Cesar salad dressing was made from mayonnaise), the wait staff was hovering and pushy. One waitress kept taking plates and glasses from the table before we were even finished and the waiter hovered while we paid the bill then sped off with it almost while it was being signed. Baja Cantina has been our Cabo hangout for over 20 years but has been steadily growing worse (for me), trying to cater too much to the rich tourists. I will give them an opportunity to redeem themselves before I find a new favorite place because it has a lot of good memories for us.

Update: May 6, 2022 Unfortunately the food didn't change for the better, the wait staff again tried to sweep away our food was done, then left us waiting for 20 minutes after we asked...

I was there from a tour we took and included a so called lunch. When I got there I was told the lunch included ONLY a fruit plate and a orange juice. I was ok with that because I wanted to spend some money and have a good meal with the family. Well let me tell you, they treated us as if we were free loaders. No menu offered. everyone around us was served some sort of food. keep in mind we were the first in the area of the restaurant. I waited for about 20 minutes. No fruit, no waiter just drinks. I tolerate lots of situations and bad spurs of service but this was just bad all around. my guess is that the waiter show no interest on included meals because tips could be marginal. when instead they should be trying to up sell you into better food than a bowl of fruit. I will never set foot on this restaurant and I will make sure i tell my friends about it. never had a bad experience as this...
