Best dive shop I've ever dealt with! From the planning process to the goodbyes they were nothing short of polite, professional, knowledgeable and fun. Months in advance I was emailing with the shop and they responded within 24 hours, pleasantly answering any question thoroughly. Upon arrival they all had smiles and were happy to see us, even tho they were all busy tasking away for the afternoon trip. Renson checked us in and helped get our payment straightened out (my fault not theirs!) and he was nice and smiling 100% of the time. We were paired up with Kostas as our guide and needed the refresher as well. From the first moment with us Kostas was gently leading us through the refresher while still prepping for the trip. It was more like working with an old friend that is an expert than with an instructor we just met. We ended up diving three different trips/days with Dive Cabo and were lucky enough to have Kostas all three times! He genuinely loves what he does - he got as excited as we did about seeing a seahorse, hearing whales under the water, and catching a gray whale on the ride back. Renson and Melina were guides on the trips too, albeit not ours, and seemed very kind and professional as well. MC was another guide, and he seemed nice, but perhaps 'youthfully distractible' and over-sold a bit (you can't always promise what you'll see under the water, you can only hope!). Kostas did so much for us, helping us gear up, get around, reminding us to stay hydrated and have snacks, and underwater he checked on us repeatedly, pointed out things we'd never have seen ourselves, had great patience so we could all look at small things or in crevices he shined a light in, he took great pics and vids (and they share for free!). Kostas also communicated well underwater (and above!), and at the end of our dives he loaded our equipment, took it back to the shop, cleaned/stored it for our future dives and loaded it onto the boat for us too. I've never had such an easy and enjoyable time diving! Lastly, Kostas either has fine-tuned attention or just great intuition, because upon our first entry into the water I ended up getting nervous (even my husband couldn't tell). I recently cut my hair so my mask wasn't fitting like normal and I had more weight than normal (it was my first time in my new 7mm - the water is pretty cold there) and I was worrying about descent and buoyancy. Kostas came over to me and asked if I was ok in his super friendly caring way. I explained my worries and he took my mask and fixed it up for me and explained a bit about my buoyancy. He was patient and checked in with me a couple more times before and during descent. Once at the bottom he made sure we were all good and then showed us how we could interact with the friendly and curious pufferfish - my worries melted away! In Cabo we won't dive with any other dive shop and truly...I wish I could dive with Kostas and this dive shop everywhere...
Read moreWe had a great time. Instructors Ophilia was great explaining my new dive computer and giving me some great advice to help me improve as a diver. Caesar, Francois, and Kosta were also great giving really good feedback. The office guys were great at setting up the dives and refunding payment. Marine Park had more marine life and The Corridor had better corals. We did 6 days of 4 dives a day. I think 3-4 would have been enough though. Never got to Lands End due to current/waves conditions. Water in March was 69 degrees. Visibility about 20-30'. Whale sharks left two months prior to us arriving - the place we had arranged didn't tell us this till 1-2 weeks before though. Saw many divers earn their open water and advanced diver certification. Everyone was happy with it. There was one diver who kept going off on his own and after being repeatedly told to stay with the group and got separated. He was not allowed to dive again with the group - a decision not made lightly by the instructor but it was the 100% right decision. To be honest, we were not impressed with Gordo Banks. Visibility was poor, waves rough. Not much to see (although it is the ocean). Our guide there was less than impressive and after 4 days, we still haven't received the pictures the guide promised he'd send. That guide is not at the main Cabo area though and is not representative of all the other great instructors. That said, in Marine Park we saw octopus, rays, lots of guitar sharks and some small white tip sharks, lots of eels, angelfish, tangs, wrasses, damsels, a couple times we saw a school of 30-50 rays (although visibility wasn't great, we did see them), jacks, sea lions, etc. Also, we saw (from the boat) humpback whales with calves. We brought our own gear, but those who used their rental gear never reported problems. Do pay in cash - you get a nice 10% discount. My son took a day off due to not feeling well - they didn't charge him for that. Other places might have. If you are new to diving or are slightly bigger than most, I would recommend getting a 100 cc tank for your first dive of the day(as it is usually longer) or for anything going down to 80+ feet. Due to lack of locations to dive at, we probably won't be back, but as a place to come once, we are very happy with the service, cost, instruction/advice, and overall experience. They also rinsed/kept our gear overnight. Lots of places nearby to have lunch/dinner. We stayed at Mayan Monkey, which was close by (we walked 7 min one way) and were happy with the location to Dive Cabo. I do wish there were more dive sites, but as we know, isn't up to them. Oh, great captains too. Always had our safety 1st. Thanks Dive Cabo! Had a blast...
Read moreWe did a 3-tank dive with Dive Cabo on November 6, 2024 and the experience was absolutely fantastic! Kostas was our dive guide and he was honestly, the best dive guide I've ever worked with. He made safety a top priority. He gave a thorough pre-dive briefing before each dive to let us know what we might see, what to expect and how he would communicate with us underwater. He was an extraordinary underwater communicator, moved slowly to let us take in all the sights and wildlife sightings. He checked on us regularly. I never felt I had to race to keep up or leave an interesting spot too soon. Each of the 3 dives were fabulous in their own way. We saw schools of mobula rays along with beauutiful coral and plentiful sea life on the first dive (Blow Hole). We dove Lands End 2nd and it was breathtaking. It felt & looked like we were diving in an aquarium. Clear blue water, white sand bottom, an old wreck that created safe spaces for fish to congregate, gorgeous coral growing on the rock and abundant schools of colorful fish EVERYWHERE! I had a scare with my air on this dive after attempting to swim into a current and panicked a bit. Kostas was right there and handled the situation very calmly and gave me confidence that I didn't immediately need to surface to solve the problem. He pulled out my octo and got me to switch my regulators which calmed me down and the rest of the dive was tranquilo and wonderful. The 3rd dive was at Pelican Rock. We saw adorable Sea Lions resting on the rock and one in the water. We submerged to see the Sand Fall and Kostas explained to us in the pre-dive briefing that the fish are not shy and can be playful here and explained how we can safely play with them. This dive was sheer joy! It was beautiful with schools of fish and yes, some very adorable, curious and playful ones that were a true highlight of this dive. Alex was the Captain and he was top notch. There is a lot of boat traffic and there were some swells. He made the beautiful boat ride safe and comfortable for all and was very helpful with getting our gear on and off and helping us safely exit and enter the water. We haven't left and already look forward to returning. DiveCabo will be our go to shop. Thanks Alex & Kostas for the...
