Was on visit in Amsterdam and wanted to check out the store, very nice and attentive staff when i first came in. What kind of shocked me was that when i wanted to return a shoe that really didn’t fit me at all, they refused to take it. I had only worn it in store two days before when i bought them and then once inside my AirBNB. There were small creases at the front that you get from trying on the shoe once + some dust on the sole.
I still recommend Dr. Martens, most of the staff are always very attentive and helpful, but I would also recommend to really think about getting a shoe, since you will be stuck with it and they are rather expensive.
No big complaints towards the shoe quality or anything, they are amazing as always, but really shocked from how I was talked to when trying to return it.
Sadly only three stars overall, didn’t want the employee to be affected so I didn’t mention it in store but i wasn’t informed over return policies at all, so make sure you ask for this (!!!) and honestly im used to being able to at least try on shoes and still be able to return them.
I am used to different treatment by the people that work for Dr. Marten, kind of disappointed, will not be returning to this store.
For notes: they weren’t worn outside, the leather was not damaged, the insoles were literally spotless, i had a receipt, undamaged box and there was no real dirt or anything on it, as I had only worn them inside like I...
Read moreMy 78-year-old father recently bought a pair of boots from this shop. At the time, he didn’t realize that they were too heavy for him — it only became clear once he got home and tried them on properly. He also wasn’t informed that returning or exchanging the shoes would be impossible without the original box.
To make it easier for him to carry the boots home, he left the box at the shop. He had no idea this would affect his ability to return or exchange them later. When I went back to the store with the boots and the receipt, I was told they couldn’t do anything because we didn’t have the box.
This is extremely disappointing. Now, my elderly father is left with a pair of shoes he physically cannot wear, simply because the staff — specifically someone named Sofia, according to the receipt — failed to mention the return policy clearly.
It’s very sad that there is no flexibility or understanding in cases like this. I expected better customer service, especially for elderly clients. We won’t be...
Read moreBought some heavy duty shoes here, 160 euro in july23. The leather on both shoes is totally torn open along the stitching. Rather sad and never experienced with any pair of shoes. Went to shop and said I wanted to buy a new pair but at a reduction of 20 percent or so. On sale reductions are bigger. Thought I was reasonable and loyal. And another client there was offered 10% student reduction without being a student, while I was talking to this same girl. I also showed I was a regular customer in shop and online. The girl said that soles have 2 year guarantee and top part 1 year. This was 1.5 years so out of guarantee. So that was it. I wished her good luck. Personally I hate to give (bad) reviews but in this case it’s really silly not to do it. We bought timberlands across the street. Hope they...
