Impolite throughout our short visit, despite the beer list and lovely setting. It’s just not worth a stop here in this otherwise very welcoming town.
After ordering “gedroogde worst”, dried sausage or saucisson sec, we were served raw beef and told that “it’s steak tartar like you eat in France”.
Yes, we were speaking French at the table, but ordered in a poor attempt at Dutch while smiling and pointing directly at gedroogde worst and kaas. The responses to our politely questioning what was served to us were given in blatantly bad faith. It simply wasn’t what we had ordered and it was clear that it didn’t suit us. Read moreThis place is outstanding. Setting the scene, we were walking along in need of a drink and my group of 7 (all in late 30s) found this place. You walk in past an old and well worn leather devider, into a room that looks like it hasn't been decorated for years. No music and not even a bar. We were conidering leaving when the bar keeper came over and started chatting. He was really nice, he helped us select beers from the enormous range of options, they even store their drinks at different temperatures to suit the taste of customer. I'm so glad we found this place, its not about thumping out music, but more about great conversation and...
