We tried to do business with Atlanta Event Center to host an upcoming event. Ryan Rearder contacted us, responding to our venue search on Eventective. He gave an overview of their services and was supposed to send us a marketing packet. I responded directly with details of the event including our vision, event date, number of guests, and event hours. My response also included our email and phone number to contact us.
After a week of waiting, no packet was received. No phone call, no text messages, no email, not even a reply on Eventective. We really liked the online pictures; so only for due diligence, I called to follow up again. Ryan was initially unavailable, then called back minutes later only to provide a litany of excuses for why the packet was never sent; citing a "technical error". He also tried to blame us for not providing enough information, but he never even replied to my message containing the event details. A technical error is not the reason you've failed to contact us when you have been provided with 4 methods of contact. I can show you where I sent info, but he can't show me evidence proving they've tried to contact us.
He was more focused on trying to impress us by stating that they've hosted Drake concerts in the past. Who cares? Where is the marketing packet? We're trying to organize our event, not hear about Drake.
She (Tiffany or Stephanie) said the packet only contains information, but not any pricing; and as a result, she appeared hesitant to send me the packet. Well, I need information too right? Why not just send the packet? I understand they do custom building of events, but why offer a marketing packet containing additional information and not send it?
If I had not called, I would've probably never spoken to anyone. A simple apology and "I'll send that packet over right now" would've sufficed. In hindsight, I shouldn't have called because it was a complete waste of time, energy, and effort.
The venue looks very nice from what you can see online, but the team that handles event booking and coordination leaves much to be desired. They are more budget focused than building rapport with the customer. Every other venue we've talked to in our search have been much more professional, considerate, and timely.
So when Ryan began to say, "well, maybe we aren't the right venue for you" I hung up. Being that dismissive and dishonest earned them this negative review.
Never beg anyone to take your money; and if a business advertises themselves as "premier" then their customer service, communication, and consideration of your time should also be premier.
The venue is definitely luxurious, but their customer service reflects that of some hole-in-the-wall establishment.
I'm sure Drake could easily find what they offer anywhere else in Atlanta.
UPDATE: I had to edit to make space this since Google has a character limit and doesn't have a way to reply directly to their comments below. I never told them "I'm not going to answer that" to anything. I have screenshots attached proving that I provided them with information and no response was received after that. This venue has changed ownership & management multiple times. It used to be Opera, then it was Domaine, before it ever became Atlanta Event Center. This was all within the past 3 years. So, where is this claim of 2 decades of reputation coming from? The majority of positive reviews are for Opera, not Atlanta Event Center. So again, they share misleading information. Go to their website, then go to domaineatl.com and see it's the same place. It's even still on Instagram. Reviews follow the address since it's linked to Google Maps. Why take credit for the efforts of past management groups? They respond quicker to a Google review than an actual inquiry to conduct business, but attempt to seek sympathy for the event industry suffering in light of COVID. What a joke. If it was really that bad, you would've handled potential business better. Nobody is attacking or slandering them. I am simply sharing...
Read moreFriday was the first time I visited Opera since I've only been in ATL for a few weeks and heard good things. I was having a great time until a very persistent and rude employee forced me and my friends out of the VIP seating we had been invited to sit in. I was trying to carry several drinks and coats of other friends that had decided to dance, before I could reach for the long island I had purchased five seconds pior to the a#*hole told me to move, the buttface tossed it. Then my great time turned into a bad experience. He could have helped me move all the stuff or offered to get me something else to drink. Unfortunately he thought it was funny and said he tossed it because I didn’t have my name on it, I did not find his comment amusing. He claimed his name was Tony but for some reason I think he was lying. He was short, black guy; with a light complexion, he was wearing a suite, very cocky and rude. I was with a large group and everyone seemed to think his behavior was uncalled for to top it off when I offered to pay for VIP he wanted to charge me twice the amount listed on the website. Then when I agreed he claimed they were all sold. Later after more friends arrived I noticed the space was empty. There were 20 of us in town from DC, NY, HI, and LA all different races and backgrounds but we all agree that the situation could have been handled more professionally. The site would not let me submit my comment,...
Read moreRight now they're restructuring and remodelling the entire place. Its still beautiful though. There are 2 ATM machines, no elevator, bats in almost every room, chandeliers and nice bathrooms. They just recently found out that there was a pool in the cabana area, so they're making it a huge fountain. It connects to the upper garden that also has a huge fountain. All the rooms connect to each other by way of huge doors. The main room has 2 bars, 2 balconies and plenty of seating. The Venetian room, is chocolate and gold, it also has 2 bars and lots of booth seating. The stage has a lounge area and the DJ booth. Plenty of lights, gobos, nitro and chandeliers. You can hang things from the ceiling, people, cakes, etc. The Brides suite is under the stage, hidden away. There's a bar, plenty of seating and a large makeup area with bathroom attached. See my videos for all the new...
