Absolutely the worst dental experience of my life.
Iâm honestly embarrassed to even write this, but every time I hear Mint Dentistryâs commercials claiming they care about their patientsâwith âfree teeth whitening,â âmassage chairs,â and âexcellent customer serviceââI feel compelled to speak up and share my story.
Iâm not from this area and was looking for a new dentist. After hearing their ads constantly, I decided to give them a try. From the very first visit at the Midtown location, I shouldâve trusted my gut. I was never offered a massage chair or the free whitening they advertise. In fact, I never even saw a massage chair.
During that first appointment, they recommended a root canal on a tooth that was problematic, though I wasnât in any pain at the time. I agreed to the procedure and paid over $900 with insurance. They placed a temporary crown afterward.
At my next visit, I paid another $900+ expecting the permanent crown to be placed. Instead, the dentist handed me a mirror and asked if I wanted a bridge or a flipperâthen proceeded to tell me that she remove the entire tooth, temporary crown and all. I was shocked, devastated, and left in tears.
The dentist seemed apologetic and said sheâd do whatever she could to help. But once I spoke with the office manager, things went downhill fast. He showed zero compassion, told me they couldnât refund me, but would offer a discount to fix their mistake. I left in complete distress, having never experienced anything like this before.
I escalated my case to their patient relations specialist, Maggie. At first, she seemed to understand, saying the owner would contact me and that this situation should never have happened. But it only got worse. Maggie became rude, dismissive, and acted as if my frustration was a personal offense. She refused to let me speak with anyone else and insisted I sign a waiver before getting any kind of refund. The first waiver they sent even appeared to be misleading.
It took nearly four months of constant back and forth just to get my money back. Not a refund for the botched procedureâjust my original payment. If it werenât for my insurance stepping in, I probably wouldnât have gotten anything. They even billed my insurance before providing the crownâsomething that should never happen. I had to wait even longer for them to reimburse my insurance properly.
To top it all off, the very next day after they extracted my tooth, I received paperwork overnight telling me they no longer wanted me as a patient. Just like thatâno tooth, no help, and still not fixed.
I went weeks without a tooth on the side of my mouth, feeling humiliated and helpless. I couldnât smile. I still canât. I feel traumatized. And yet, I still hear those ads like theyâre doing people a favor.
Please donât fall for the commercials. This practice showed me zero compassion and left me emotionally and physically hurt. They didnât just make a mistakeâthey failed to take responsibility for it. I trusted them, and I deeply regret it. Be careful. I would post a picture but I am...
Read moreIf you value your time and money then please do yourself a favor and find a different dentist office to go to.
To start, I arrived 3 minutes late at 1:33 because I could not find the office (there are no signs outside of the building which point to the office). Even though I was only a few minutes late, they had already cancelled my appointment. The only reason I know is because I received a text saying that my appointment was scheduled for 2:45 while I was already in the dentist chair.
While I was signing in I was told that my insurance had a $50 deductible which I had no problem paying before I went back. The dental assistant called me to the back and spent 20 minutes taking X-rays and then the doctor came and played in my mouth for a few seconds and called that an exam. She said that I needed a few fillings and a wisdom tooth extraction ( I actually needed two wisdom teeth extracted but she only noticed one). She then told me that someone would come and explain my treatment plan.
The front desk worker came to explain my plan but he started by saying that I to pay a $50 deductible. I told him that I had already paid and he said that he didnât see it in his system and that he was in the back while I was up front paying so he didnât see it (This was a lie because I literally saw him sitting at the front desk while I was paying). He then explained that I was being charged $500 for x-rays and I would have to schedule a day to come back if I wanted my deep cleaning. When I asked why, he said the cleaning would take an hour (A lie) and there were patients who needed to get theirs done first. ( This was at around 2:30 and they didnât close until 5:30). When I asked when could I schedule the cleaning and he told me that the closest date available was 2 weeks away. He then told me that I would have to call and schedule my own appointment with the oral surgeon for my extraction (Most other offices would schedule it for you).
So all in all I spend 1 hour and $50 on $500 worth of x-rays (which is half my annual max) and no cleaning and if I wanted to complete my treatment plan it would cost me $300 out of pocket. This is a very bad office to go to as they do not have their patients best interests in mind. I will be going to Ideal Dental Alpharetta for my future appointments (I highly recommend them) and the only reason I gave Mint dentistry a try was because they were closer but it was definitely not worth the shorter travel time. If I could give them negative stars I would and Iâm not even the type of person who leaves reviews but this was ridiculous and would warn anyone reading this to keep googling until you find...
Read moreI can truly say I have never experienced anything like this before. After scheduling a cleaning at the college park location, arrived and no one had a clue why I was there and they were rude and unprofessional. I sat waiting for an hour and finally asked The hygienist what was I waiting for? She tells me that there is a fee for the cleaning Iâm like OK Let me know what it is so I can pay and we can get this appointment over Iâve been here over an hour. she respondsâ well some people donât like to payâ how do you put me in the category with âsome peopleâ without asking me would I like to continue my treatment. Iâm thinking well maybe the amount is Substantial, even though I have insurance, Find out itâs $40???After waiting for so long and the attitude of the hygienist I left. I called the customer experience line. They apologized and booked a new appointment at their midtown location. I arrive and they wonât clean my teeth because they donât have an appointment for it, but will honor the crown appointment for $500+ (even though the dentist said they usually conduct the cleaning first). Before the appointment I was in no pain. I pay and the temporary crown is placed on my tooth. After the appointment the tooth is became so sensitive and painful to brush. They told me the permanent crown take 2-3 weeks and they would call me when it arrived. A month passes and I decide to follow up. They had no clue where the crown was, promised to return my call and never did. I had to contact the customer experience line again to get some traction several days later.
My medical spending card challenged the claim and asked for an explanation of benefits after researching the discrepancy I realize they overcharged me $177. The bill they sent me a bill that shows a credit of $177 and nobody decided to call or to refund it. So now the I have to go chase down my money to avoid having to repay my HSA out of pocket.
I arrive today to have the crown placed on and guess what now they have referred me to get a root canal and wonât place the crown on. This place has been the most unprofessional, unorganized business I have ever patronized. Iâve had enough of mint dentistry. Iâm very disappointed. I will not refer anyone. I will be requesting my crown To be sent to another Dentist who will have to perform the root canal I donât want to do any further business with...
