Makayla's Boutique — Local services in Big Bear Lake

We visit Big Bear every Thanksgiving week and look forward to popping in Makayla’s each time we’re in town to do some shopping. They do have really cute things. After it being closed the first couple days of our visit even though it was during open hours, we finally got to go in and shop. My 10 year old daughter, baby girl and I were shopping and I was super disappointed the way we were treated. I have bought items from this boutique every year that I’ve visited and planned to do the same this time around but was treated as a thief. I’m a slow shopper and like to look around, I looked at a lot of things (most don’t have prices on them so I was trying to figure that out as well) and was being watched and questioned as though I was doing something wrong. My husband and boys came by so I asked what time they’d be open til so I could come back after we got coffee and was told she was already closing at 3:30 but when walking by later that was not the case so clearly I just wasn’t wanted in the store. I just went in there yesterday with my friends, and we all walked in with bags. I was the only one who had bought something, a $16 hair clip (ridiculous price btw). The woman at the register was staring me down the entire time I was in the store, it was weird and unwelcoming. Then after I bought the hair clip, I was chilling by the door while my friends finished looking. She came right at me and asked me if I stole a claw clip and put it in my bag. I just showed her my shopping bag, from the previous store. Obviously when nothing stolen was found, she walked away without saying sorry. That was absolutely ridiculous. Terrible...

The cutest curated children’s boutique! Plus some carefully selected women’s clothing! I popped in one night & unfortunately the store had just closed but the owner Jamie helped me anyway! I desperately needed a blanket for my baby because I forgot one & I was visiting from out of town! I went back the next day because I saw so many adorable items the night before!
