The staff members here are racist. Went into this establishment a while back after visiting a few other shops in the area. Right before getting here, I purchased a necklace from another store. Since it didn’t fit as expected, I spent my time in Mountain Gifts fixing the necklace while my partner shopped around. During this time, I didn’t touch or try on any merchandise in the store.
Since my partner didn’t find anything they wanted, we started to exit the store. At which point, Kristen confronted me to ask that I pay for the necklace I tried on…what? After telling her that I’d been wearing the necklace since before I walked in, she then said that she’d seen me fiddling with my necklace, figuring I’d been trying on and took their merchandise without paying. When I offered to show her the receipt from my purchase, she hurriedly but not-so-sincerely “apologized” before walking back into the store.
So let me get this straight. A black male enters your store and without seeing him touch or try on anything, you feel the need to so confidently confront him about stealing because he was fixing a piece of his own jewelry?
I didn’t get more than a few feet away from the exit before I went back to ask for a manager so they could be aware how their employee handled this situation. Two other staff members let me know the manager was out to lunch and what time they’d return. After coming back to the shop at the given time, Kristen immediately directed me to where the manager was without a word which was pretty indicative that she’d already spoken with her before I got there. We were then able to speak with Natalie, the manager.
After telling the manager what happened with Kristen, Natalie also gave some generic non-apology before going on about how they have “countless” people stealing from them frequently, so the employee’s actions were justified. The conversation ended with the manager essentially saying “sorry you feel that way” when I told her that Kristen’s handling of the situation was blatantly racist and unacceptable.
As far as I’m concerned, shopping here supports the racists that work there and their ideals. Will never return and will continue to tell anyone in the...
Read moreThis place told me my card was declined, I checked my account and the money had been removed from my account, the night manager was adamant that it was a decline transaction and they did not take the money and that my money should be back go back because the transaction was not completed, I explained that that’s not usually how it works. If the money’s been removed from my account the transaction went through. She said that’s not what it says on her screen /register. She said call if you have any issues and talk to My supervisor. I’ve called a total of eight times since last winter the people that have answered tell me just to call back, the message I have left have not been returned. I believe they’re not honest people and won’t do what’s right. The money was removed from my account and they refuse to even acknowledge my request...
