Skylar's Home & Patio Furniture — Local services in Carlsbad

My husband and I live in Carlsbad Village and noticed when this store opened a year or two ago. When ever we walked by we would always go in to see what new furniture, decorations and wall art they had. Before we bought our sectional from Skylar's we had purchased some beautiful wall art that are tropical wood carvings. They were such a find, and were a great deal - we always get so many complements on them when people are over.

We recently remodeled our house and were in the market for some large items as well. What we have always liked about Skylar's is that the staff is always so friendly, non pushy, and very accommodating. There were several couches we liked over a several month period, and they would always let us take some of the fabrics home for a few hours to see if it went with our decor. We had been in the market for a new couch, but not in a hurry to buy. Over several months we went to so many furniture stores, but we always went back to Skylar's, we felt that the quality of their sectionals were at a much higher level, and their prices were really good. They also had so much variety in the fabric that you could choose from. We ended up purchasing a fairly large sectional, and Skylar's as great in working with our dimensions, and making the sectional fit to our living room. The sectional was ready for us within the time period stated (under 2 weeks), and when we had trouble borrowing a truck to go and pick it up, Skylar himself said that since we lived so close to the store, that they would drop off the sectional for us. Talk about going above and beyond for your clients! This is a huge reason why it is so great to buy from the local, smaller guys - Skylar and another person delivered it themselves, and were absolutely amazing to work with. They didn't ask for any additional payments for the delivery, just asked us to stop by if we needed any additional furniture.... and we definitely will. I am utterly disappointed with my experience at Skyler's Furniture store. I purchased a couch from them, hoping for comfort and quality, but what I got was far from it. From day one, the couch emitted loud cracking noises, making relaxation impossible.

Desperate for a solution, I contacted an upholstery company to inspect the couch. To my dismay, they discovered that the couch was terribly constructed, with the wood not even flush to the frame. It was evident that Skyler's Furniture had sold me a poorly made product.

When I tried to address the issue with the owner and sent him pictures showcasing the shoddy workmanship, he completely ignored my calls and dismissed my concerns with a flippant "too bad." This lack of accountability and customer care is unacceptable.

Save yourself the headache and avoid Skyler's Furniture store at all costs. Their disregard for quality and customer satisfaction is appalling. Don't make the same mistake I did.

What we did to try and fix the issue and it didn’t fix it and Skyler the owner said too bad.

The upholstery company (not Skyler’s) put a screw in everywhere there is a staple, clamped down the front where those huge gaps were (see pictures) and put in 6 screws in each post, put a middle leg on the loveseat side, opened the front up and took off the upholstery to see if the wood was cracked, checked all the springs and made sure they were placed properly and not touching/rubbing on the wood, anywhere there was a 90 degree joint they added a right angle bracket to support the structure of the couch and it is still...

I'm so happy with Skylar's Home & Patio here in Carlsbad! My husband and I needed a couple of Adirondack style patio chairs and Skylar's had the perfect ones for us made from polywood a recycle product that appears to be indestructible, a big plus for us as some of our teak patio furniture is falling apart. We went to to the store and met Gina, a most wonderful and helpful sales associate. She spent time explaining polywood and finding the best sale price for us on what we settled on. The furniture was made right here in Southern California, a big plus, and the delivery team were topnotch, very thoughtful, knowledgeable and fun guys. After receiving our chairs, we decided they were so nice and well made that we went back to the store to order a couple more chairs and chaises. I was having a little bit of a hard time trying to decide which sling fabric I wanted with which color of polywood and Gina was so patient. She even found a couple items on the floor that she took outside in the sun to help me visualize what I would like best.
