Went to this Sephora after work to try and find a natural finish BB/CC cream foundation, as I do not wear a lot of makeup but am in need of something that would improve the overall look of my skin without setting off my cystic acne. I wasn't greeted when entering the store. I wandered around trying to find products on my own for a good 20 minutes and no one even acknowledged I was there. I had to walk past 2-3 employees before anyone would even make eye contact to help me (keep in mind, this was on a Tuesday, so they were not busy at all). The one girl who I had to finally chase down listened to me for about 30 seconds before she arbitrarily directed me to the Makeup Forever section. I had already researched that foundation online and it did not have good reviews. She claimed that it would be light and not oily - totally wrong! It was awful, like an acrylic paint and made my skin SO oily. I returned it after two days of use. And the setting powder was so expensive and didn't do anything. Then, the skincare 'expert' directed me towards an eye cream, as I needed something for puffiness. She tried to talk me into a $100 cream that smelled terrible. When I told her I couldn't handle the smell, she basically scoffed at me. I asked if she had a comparable product without the smell - she then took me to a cheaper product section and handed it to me like I was asking for a $1 product (the cheaper one is actually really good). I ended up spending well over $100 in total but they treated me like I wasn't their "target customer".

Not too long ago I came to this store to look for eyebrow gel. I walked past at least 4-5 associates who were all in sporadic groups all over the store laughing and talking to each other. I walked right in front of a few of these groups and received no acknowledgment. I didn't even get an eye-glance. After searching around the store for 10 minutes for this eyebrow gel, I finally found it. For once, I actually had a few questions, but everywhere I looked, there were absolutely no associates. They were all in random corners of the store. So I just grabbed what I thought would be okay and went on to find a brush. The lowest priced brush I found myself was $10.... [I get makeup can be expensive and the tools are more expensive, but for a brush that looks like it came out of a kid's paintset, no thanks.] So I went and stood by the front counter until those associates stopped talking to each other so I could ask if there were any alternate, smaller, cheaper brushes. They asked if I was ready to check out and I told them what I needed. The lady then called over another lady who I explained what I needed to and then she called over another lady to direct me where to go. Pointless. The girl showed me the wrong type of brush and so I corrected her and she ended up showing me the exact brush I looked at before. Her response as to why it was $10? "It's travel-size, easy to put away." It's the size of a regular brush and I would determine all brushes to be travel size or easy to pack. I had an exceptional experience here today and wanted to write a review about it...I went in to purchase one thing but came out $200 lighter and glad for it. Joel helped me find some skin care products from Glow Recipe that I hadn't tried and was extremely knowledgeable about which products I should try. I came home straight away and washed my face and love the serum and moisturizer that he recommended. He asked if I needed any other products and since he had been so helpful, I asked for help choosing a lip color. I have never, and I mean never in my 39 years purchased a lipstick that I liked on myself. I always pick the wrong color for myself and hate the way it looks. Joel passed me off to Alan who he told me was very knowledgeable about lip color, and Alan helped me find the perfect shade of lipstick. I love love love it on myself and love the color so much. It is one I would have NEVER chosen for myself (which I should be choosing those types since obviously I don't know how to choose LOL) but he told me he really liked that shade for my undertones. He even helped me apply the lipstick to try because I'm hopeless 🤣 My niece was with me and we have been laughing since about "would it be okay if I apply it for you?" After he watched me struggling to apply it with the sample wand. Makeup is really intimidating for me - I love watching people apply it on TikTok but have never been into doing it for myself - but they both were so kind and helpful and didn't make me feel intimidated at all.
