The only positive reviews are from people that bought bikes there and are treated well at the time or planning other purchases of bikes (not repairs). They are civil too these folks because they can charge well above the MSRP and get away with it. This place is one of two locations
on L.I., the other in Garden City. I had purchased two tire tubes for my sister's old
Schwinn bike (Long Beach location) as a surprise fix it
and the manager a heavy set angry guy (who looks like he
would rather be just about anywhere else) named Herman
grudgingly scribbled out an unintelligible receipt. When
my sister caught wind of my plans she told me not to
waste my time or money on it. When I returned a few weeks later with the new tubes
still in their boxes and receipt in hand I got pricing on
a tube replacement for my 10 speed (the quote was fine)
but when I asked for a credit on the tubes towards the
work he got very rude. He said "we don't return
anything!, especially tubes". When I asked him why he
gave me a receipt if that were the case, he said "oh that
was only good for the first week only". I told him the
owner wouldn't mind a $16 return with work being offered
and a relationship at stake .He then says any complaints
come to "me" for the owner. I told him I was taking my
business to Buddys down west he chuckled "yeah give it
to them". I left two messages for the owner in Garden City and both
employees told me he would call back after his conference
meeting and both took my telephone number, this was
nearly a week ago and no call was ever returned. My last
message threatened to leave negative reviews for him on
various social media sites unless I heard from him
shortly. I don't like slamming small and local business owners but
these guys are the pits and should be avoided, I can't
even respect them on a business level with a non return
policy that's not even posted or encouraging neighborhood
customers to go elsewhere over such a small purchase
return.Their other business is "Big City Bicycle" in...
Read moreLong Beach Bicycle has been repairing my bicycles for over 20 years. I put a lot of miles on my mountain bikes and have worn through many wheels, tires, chains and gear systems. Long Beach Bicycle shop does a great job keeping my mountain bike in top form. Herman is an excellent bike mechanic who is highly adept at making repairs and tune ups. The work that Herman has done on my bike has been consistently reliable, and I ride with complete confidence that my bike will perform when I travel over long distances. I have also purchased several bikes at this shop over the years. Rick provided great advice on how to select the right bike that matched my requirements and the type of riding I do. Rick took me through a number of bike models and made arrangements with the manufacturer to order the model with the features I selected. The bike was delivered and assembled exactly as requested. I have been very happy with the bikes I have purchased at Long Beach Bike shop. This shop can be busy, especially when the weather gets warm, as Long Beach is a biking town. Sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes while other customers are being served, but my experience has been that Herman and Rick are always ready to help as needed. I would absolutely recommend Long Beach Bicycle shop to anyone who needs a bike repaired or is looking to buy a...
Read moreFirst, I want to say I rarely post any reviews. I needed to after my experience with Long Beach Bicycles. I must’ve bought my bike in a dozen times since training started for my first full distance Ironman on July 20th in Lake Placid. The owner Mike is awesome, and staff is top-notch. All the mechanics (a special shout out to Jesse) are really good at what they do and have done an exceptional job in servicing my high-end triahlon bike. I really don’t have time between work and training to do the maintenance, and Long Beach Bicycle comes through every time. 2 1/2 weeks before my Ironman I hit a rabbit on a training ride on the trail between Jones Beach and Caprtree. I got pretty banged up and unfortunately my bike did Not make it out of the crash unscathed. I took the bike in knowing there was some damage as I wrote it back to my car after the crash. Unfortunately I needed a part from Shimano crank set, and this particular part is not available in the after market yet. They gave me some alternatives, and got my bike race ready in time for Lake Placid. After the race I even got a call from Mike and Warren who tracked me throughout the race. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Love all the guys Long...
