Had visited this Social Services Department office in having to get some information on how to go about filling out this Medicaid Recertification paperwork, that I had received in the mail on Friday, August 22nd. My mother and I had made the decision to come in person, in order to resolve the situation pertaining to this kind of paperwork and let me just say, that the atmosphere at this office location, is of the utmost unprofessional and not as supportive...One of the reasons for why I am sharing this, is because one of the receptionists there had me do the runaround where they claim, that they "cannot help me of needing to complete these papers." but; they were willing to contact the Investigative Consultant/Case Manager for me to converse with him on how I go about completing these papers. I would assume this was helpful to my mother and I but, meanwhile, a good majority of the workers within the office were acting like a bunch of teenagers, (such as, talking amongst themselves and/or just not wanting to be supportive); So, I had found this in being somewhat disruptive...
While using their office's phone, I had expressed to the Case Manager, (he goes by the name of Ralph Lopez) that whenever it comes to contacting the Social Services Department at this location, it is as if you can never get ahold of someone...making it very difficult for my situation regarding this. I will be providing this review with a 3 star rating, (I would provide with 4 stars but, thought 3 was fair, considering one of the receptionists, Ms. Woodson was the only individual at this office, that seemed to be the most helpful with my mother and I, considering this issue with the Medicaid Recertification paperwork). Until this office location decides to improve on itself, I will provide a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I applied for NY SNAP benefits in October of 2022, I checked a box that I was receiving benefits in another state. No info was provided about how to handle this. When the worker had my application and told me that she had all of my documentation for SNAP, I questioned her regarding the process for discontinuing my NJ SNAP. She immediately accused me of trying to cheat and gave me two weeks to get a letter from NJ to her stating my NJ benefits were ended. It took 3 days of calling to get through to NJ where I was told to send them an email. Before I could get info about the process, the NJ worker hung up the phone. I sent the email but spent two more days trying to reach NJ DSS again to find out what was next. I am as told they would mail me a letter that benefits were discontinued, but that it would take a month for them to send the letter. I tried repeatedly to contact J. Moss in the Westchester DSS to tell her that I could not get the letter to her in a month. She never spoke with me, calls to supervisors went unanswered, and she closed my case after two weeks but I was as not told this until January 2023. I left two messages with the Commissioner of DSS a Miss Kelly with no response. Then I contacted the office of my state senator and they tried to intervene. I was told three times that a supervisor from DSS would contact me. No one ever has. Today, on February 9, 2023 I received a statement from J. Moss, that I would have to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt has been nearly a month since I got approved for food stamps and medicaid yet I still can't receive those cards in the mail. I was in a shelter when I got approved, but then I moved to my own place, which I signed discharge papers for with my housing specialist to document the address change. I've been trying to get their "case information management center" on the phone for nearly two months now, I've only ever been answered 3 times and 2/3 times they hung up on me while I was on hold or sent me back to the automated system that is impossible to navigate. The one time I was able to get the lady on the phone to handle my case, it took me waiting nearly 2 hours in a queue, just for her to tell me she couldn't mail the cards because she had to contact some new worker who got assigned to my case to tell them that the address changed and kept telling me about going all the way to the office for a TEMPORARY card instead of the real one, I work a 9-5 and cannot afford to call out and spend 2 inconvenient hours of travel by PUBLIC transportation for a card that won't even last. I don't pay insane taxes just for incompetent losers to work for our social services government buildings and not even be able to help working class taxpayers in need efficiently and effectively. I'm highly disappointed and concerned at the state of our...
