As a Level 7 Google Local Guide (with over 18 million photo views and ranked in the top 10% of restaurant reviewers on Google), I gave this restaurant 4 stars becauseâŚ
The food was decent and the flexibility on menu options was a real plus. I ordered the burrito fajita wrap as a bowl and appreciated that they allowed extra meat and substitutions. We also enjoyed chips and salsa, tacos, and other entrĂŠes, all presented well.
The location couldnât be better, right in the heart of downtown, and the atmosphere is stylish with colorful murals, neon signs, and a clean, modern setup. We were the only guests eating inside at 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday, but the restaurant had just opened, so it wasnât a concern.
Our server did a great job, attentive and helpful throughout the meal.
The restrooms were clean, which I appreciate. The womenâs restroom has a green dĂŠcor and does include a changing table. The menâs restroom is gray and does not have a changing table, which felt disappointingâit puts the responsibility of diaper changes solely on women, which I did not like.
One detail that brought the rating down from 5 stars to 4: while they do offer carbonated water, they charge $3.50 for it. That felt a bit unnecessary for whatâs typically complimentary at many restaurants. If they ever fix this and let me know, Iâll gladly upgrade my review to 5 stars.
Overall: A well-located spot with solid food, flexible ordering, good service, and a lively interior. Worth visiting, but keep in mind the carbonated water charge and the lack of family-friendly...
Read moreWorst food I've had in a long time. Waiter(Henry)really didn't know anything. Asked about gluten free menu and was told everything other than the burritos were gluten free. Which after looking at the menu knew that was not true. Chose the street tacos as they were on Corn tortillas and he said all the meat was gluten free. ordered with no onions and salsa/sauce on the side. The Pastor tacos were extremely fatty pork with mostly cilantro stems....not leafs and covered in onions. The Birra tacos meat had absolutely no flavor and no salt on it. The tortillas came out in soggy pieces and covered in some green sauce that was not good and again covered in cilantro stems and onions. Henry realized I was unhappy and I again asked for salsa/sauce on the side and no onions. He remade my food and still came out covered in salsa/sauce and no cheese this time. I ate the pastor taco. it might be good with some better cut pork without all the fatty pieces. Then ate 1 bite of the birra and couldn't eat another bite as it was so watery and greasey. When asked if the tacos were ok I told him they were horrible and had no flavor. Asked why the meat was so watery and greasey and he had no response and just brought me a check. My husband's pork carnitas burritos was ok but filled mostly with rice and beans and just a small amount of pork. No apology for the food and didn't offer to even take off the food I didn't eat. So save your money and go to a real Mexican restaurant. The taco place that used to be in that location had excellent food so...
Read moreAzteca Urbano is a restaurant worth visiting. The location in walkable downtown Springs is great! There are several cool storefronts to explore on your way to, or from, Azteca Urbano. The food at Azteca is excellent. I had the smothered carnitas burrito and it was flavorful! The large burrito was stuffed with plenty of well seasoned carnitas, rice and beans. The burrito was such a good sized portion that upon first sight I thought there was no way I could finish the burrito! It was so good, though, that I left nothing on the plate and would have licked the sauce off the plate if I didn't have a social conscience. It would have been nice to have the customary chips and salsa, but the burrito was more than enough. The service was excellent; attentive, friendly, and efficient. The staff look like hip folks who are invested in providing a quality dining experience. If you're into Instagram, Azteca is hip enough to include a few picture-worthy backdrops! The bar area is a cool spot to hang for folks who just want to stop by for a fancy drink! The drinks are really good and the prices for the food and the drinks are reasonable! As a local guide who specializes in locating quality dining experiences that represent good value, I'm happy to write Azteca Urbana...
