Chopwood Mercantile — Local services in Crested Butte

We absolutely LOVE Chopwood! If I could buy everything in the store, I seriously would. Every time my wife and I make the drive from Gunny to visit CB and have dinner at Ryce (best Asian Fusion) nextdoor-we visit Chopwood.

Selection: MANY sizes, colors, styles and brands. Tons to pick from! Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring. If you are looking for fun, casual mountain gear, this is your spot. Also beyond clothes, hats, candles, packs…ETC!

Atmosphere: It smells amazing in here. They’re always burning a candle that can also be purchased AND doubles as a whiskey glass.

People: Super friendly, and helpful! Always willing to help, never trying to upsell you. They’re great!

Gear: High quality brands like Patagonia, Cotopaxi, ETC. You wont be disappointed!

Completely disappointed! I do not like when a donation is automatically added to my receipt without my knowledge. I wasn’t asked if I wanted to make a donation. And yet it is on my receipt: 1% for Open Space Donation. I choose how I want to donate, and I was NOT given the option. Is this even legal?!? want my money back!

Response to your reply: I have not spoken with you yet. I tried calling twice today and no one picked up the phone. I want a refund of the donation. A sign is not appropriate when a store has multiple signs calling for attention. The choice to donate must be given as a built-in option as part of the sale that the person sees and can decline. 99.9% sure this same store is called Outdoor Mercantile on amazon, anyways I placed an order on Thursday. The owner emailed me saying it would be shipped out first thing the next morning which was Friday. I emailed him on Saturday wondering if it had been shipped or not as I looked up tracking and it said the label had been created but ups awaiting the item. It’s now Monday, still not shipped.
