Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad — Local services in Cripple Creek

One of the finest condensed history lessons provided of the area by the locomotive engineer (and CC&V Railroad owner) during the 45 minute Train ride! We arrived just as the full train was about to depart, so we purchased tickets for the following trip (first come, first served, so tickets cannot be purchased in advance)…perused the nicely stocked Station…and enjoyed delicious freshly popped Kelpys Kettle Corn located between the train station and local Museum. The train ride was an enjoyable trip along many of the local mines to Echo Valley. With ages from 3 to 63…we all had a great time. We felt prices were reasonable when considering the opportunity to “relive” a portion of history. The Engineer’s history lesson wet our appetite to visit all of the town’s several museums. We will definitely plan to visit...

We really enjoyed the ride on the train in spite of the COVID junk. I wish the track was a little longer, and would have really liked to have learned about the old engine / tender that was blocking the track where we stopped to turn around. The guide was great and the staff mostly friendly

Four stars because the staff in the gift shop was very rude. We started to walk in and the cashier yelled at my wife "I'M AT CAPACITY!!! WAIT THERE!!" I mean comeon - how were we to know that? Are we supposed to count everyone before entering and then come to find that there are five kids behind shelves we couldn't see?? We were going to get some souvenirs but the rudeness ensured we didn't. Also - capacity was supposed to be 10 people. There were 12. And three staff members on top...

Very dissatisfied!!! The train ride is only a little more than a mile long and you go to the end, stop and then return in reverse, going past the same stuff. On the stops they tell you stories about the area which aren’t very good but very boring and long (about 20 mins). Would not recommend for anyone that’s not doing it just for their young children (4 people = $50+).

However the drive there from Woodland Park is very scenic and worth the drive out there, just plan on turning around in the city, nothing to see or do that’s worth while.

DONKEYS - they also tell you that there are donkeys in the area (loose on the streets) and that’s one of the reasons we went there, but none to be seen and we looked everywhere.
