They pay you good money for your clothes when you sell to them. But the reason I’m giving 2 stars is because 3 different workers in the front were working on my clothes and I told them to make sure they put everything back in the same bag because I separated them by shorts, pants , jackets, shirts , dresses , etc and I was going to take them to other stores to sell as well….and well they didn’t listen to me. Lamely enough they ended up not returning one of my reusable sky blue tote bags that was filled with brand new designer bohemian and eclectic outfits . I never got it back. Before I left the store, I talked to one of the guy’s to make sure they gave me all of my bags back, and I asked if they were sure they gave me everything back, and he said yes. So when I realized my bag of tops and dresses was missing, I called and was told my bag was in their store and they ended up donating it. Eventually, I was going to donate what didn’t get bought but what’s lame is they took away my chance of selling to other locations. They made it inconvenient for me to sell my remainder clothes to other stores because I had a handful of two- piece top/ bottom outfits, which they inconveniently did not bother to keep together. So when i was selling to other thrift shops I was left with 1 piece of my 2 piece outfits because the other half of the outfit was apparently in the bag Uptown Cheapskate donated. Out of all the bags it happened to be THE ONE with the new, designer clothing. Eventually I was going to donate the remainder but first I wanted sell to other spots. Before leaving I had asked a guy up front to double check that everything was given back and he said everything was given back to me 100% . So I didn’t doubt him. But this is a super lame example of how a strangers carelessness can have an affect on another persons financial plans. It would’ve been great if they just kept everything together as I asked them too. So long story short count how many bags you bring in and make sure they give you all your bags back . Especially the bags filled with your money...
Read morei have always sworn by uptown cheapskate but i will never be back to this location again! i walk into this uptown cheapskate at 7:30 to look for a dress to wear for my 5 year anniversary on friday with my boyfriend. i work over 40 hours a week most weeks so i was on a time crunch and uptown cheapskate is always reliable! not this time!
the store closes at 9 so i think i have plenty of time to browse. i pick out some dresses and go to try on at 8:03 but theres a sign that the dressing rooms are closed! the girl tells me that they just let the last person in because they close the dressing rooms ONE HOUR before they close the store!! ONE. HOUR. not 5 or 10 minutes. ONE. HOUR!!!! all of the dresses i had picked had stamped so i couldn’t even take them home to try and then return!!
i understand wanting to efficiently and quickly close the store but an hour is ridiculous! yall had like 4-5 employees in the store at that time and while i was standing there trying to figure out what to do and seeing if i should risk buying a dress i didn’t know fit, they were all just laughing and horsing around for like 30 minutes! please let me know where to apply i would also like to get paid to laugh and joke around with my friends during the last hour of my shift.
its kind of ridiculous to be a second hand store and not have dressing rooms open the last hour of the store being open, whats the point of being open? i even asked a friend that worked at another location and they never closed the dressing rooms that early! i’m not sure if its just bad management or if the employees just want to quit working early but its ridiculous. i will drive to literally any other uptown cheapskate from now on because my time was wasted when i could’ve been elsewhere that actually would’ve let me try on dresses AT A...
Read moreIf you plan to sell your clothes here. Make sure you have a VERY low expectations of customer service. You will be greeted with a we are busy long wait attitude. You can’t even go to your car if you are in the in line to wait. I was told there was three or four people in front of me.. only to stand there and be told that I’m next after and wasted conversation of how I had to wait 30 minutes for them to even look at my clothes. There is no urgency to help you get your clothes looked at and get out of the store they slowly when they felt like started looking through my clothes only to separate what they wanted and take an extra 30 minutes pricing 16 items of clothes. While I am waiting in the store shopping I can see that the women looking through my clothes are also speaking about me as I see a her looking my direction and hear oh I think she can hear you. I was happy to have sold a few items. But coming from Buffalo exchange with even more clothes the people there actually respect your items and fold them neatly back into the bag. At this place expect your stuff to be thrown in a big mess and just completely disrespected like trash. When I asked her if this was a normal approach to how they handle people’s belongings I was met with well we don’t have time to fold everyone’s clothes. This business has a major disconnect on what makes...
