DONT GO TO THIS PLACE! Nasty service. We were in one of the escape rooms where there was a plastic table and as we were trying to figure out what it had to do with the escape, as we were doing that a corner piece of the plastic cracked off. As soon as it happened we were all confused trying to figure out if it had to do with the escape or not and as that happened the young girl who worked there walked into the room as said "I need you all to get out and leave". We were really shocked and confused because we couldn't believe that she had just said that. So we walked out and asked what was wrong? And she said that we need to leave the store now and she will refund our tickets if we want because we broke the plastic "on purpose" and that we kept taking out our phones during the game when there is a paper in the back of the door that says no to use them and because she continuously told us to put them away. We weren't sure how to respond to this because first of all when we pulled out our phones, she immediately told us to put them away because we weren't supposed to have them out and we respected that and put it away. So as we were heated up about her lying already, we asked to speak to the manager and she insisted we speak to the owner and we were even happier about that. So the other lady who was hovering over us, as all this was going, along with the 4 other employees handed us a card with his number on it. So we took it and left the store and waited outside of it and called the owner. We thought he would be a little more understanding of the situation but sadly we were COMPLETELY wrong. Then we kindly spoke to the owner and explained to how we felt how his staff did not approach this issue in an appropriate manner. We were then surprised that he actually told us "if you never come back to Mindquest I will be fine with that." I was shocked to see an owner of a company actually tell a customer that. I then realized that he to couldn't solve this because he couldn't her us out. This is still a shock, but now I am warning everyone, do not visit this place, it's very low and the staff is absolutely rude and don't know how to speak...
Read moreI’ve been to several escape rooms and consider myself pretty good at them. My friend had never been to an escape room so I took her here and we chose the easy room, since it was her first time and it was just the two of us.
There were several things I didn’t enjoy about the experience. First off, there was a suspicious person outside the establishment who was making us and other patrons uncomfortable with his behavior. We notified the game master, but she wasn’t concerned.
The escape room itself was okay. But there no context in any of the clues, and there’s apparently parts of the room that are controlled by the game master who several times came on the voice system to tell us she wasn’t paying attention which is why we weren’t advancing.
I also haven’t never done an escape room that required us to disassemble furniture, and I found that a little ridiculous as we had to waste a hint to figure out that the reason we were stuck is because we didn’t know we had to take apart some furniture.
Needless to say, we didn’t complete the room. Between delays caused by the game master being distracted, poor clues and direction, and the delay it takes for clues to come through, a lot of time was wasted. My friend was disappointed with the experience and will be difficult to convince her to try another one.
All in all, it could have been a lot better. I likely...
Read moreThe Asylum at Mindquest looks the part—creepy enough to make you double-check the locks—but solving it? You’ll need the logic of Sherlock, the patience of a saint, and apparently… the correct gender to open certain locks. Yes, really.
Pro tip: don’t even think about using your phone for math, unless you want to be scolded like a kindergartener who “forgot their homework.” One puzzle involves a math problem so buried you’ll question your life choices, and the only “hint” is… well, good luck. Asking for clues? That’s a “time tax”—ask three, and suddenly your paid hour feels more like 48 minutes. Because nothing says “fun escape room” like losing time for asking for help.
Some sticky locks and glitches made our team feel like we were in Mission: Impossible—but without the fun gadgets. The owner has clearly mastered business ownership… just maybe not customer experience. Eye-rolls and a casual “Oh well, I own many businesses” in response to feedback left us shaking our heads.
Mindquest has potential. The set looks great, the theme is solid, and a good team could have fun—but unless the puzzles stop punishing players for being human, and the customer service gets a reboot, it’s more frustrating asylum than...
