5 June 2021... Relatively new bagel shop in Deland. I love bagels. Being a NYC boy, you kinda have to love good bagels. It's pretty much a requirement! A good NY bagel is ever so slightly crispy on the outside and thick and doughy inside... Almost chewy but not quite. Dense and moderately moist with a somewhat thick/heavy texture. I had hoped with a name like NY Bagel that I'd experience this culinary phenomenon. Unfortunatley, I didn't.

Now, these bagles aren't bad, but they are NOT the NYC bagels that the native New Yorker who lives in Queens, Brooklyn or Manhattan would be accustomed to eating. These bagles are somewhat lighter and drier inside than they should be to be called NY bagels... These are not at all "dense" or "chewy" like a traditional NY bagel always is. There's not that heavy/dense doughy quality I mentioned above.

I question the reviews from people who claim to think these are just like NY bagels straight out of the city. Maybe from some bagel shops, but not those representative of typical NY bagel fare.

So far, the closest thing to a NY bagel I've found in "the area" is The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co in Lake Mary.

Never the less, I'll try NY Bagel in Deland a few more times just to be sure I didn't come in too late in the morning and perhaps got some bagels from an early morning batch. I'd prefer to support local DeLand business and see NY Bagel & Deli thrive for many years...

I am not one to complain about service as I have worked in the food industry for nearly 3 years, but I was disappointed today. Usually I have a very good experience at DeLand Bagel but unfortunately that was not the case today. I called in an order and it took me nearly 30 minutes to get the pick up. When I came in about 10ish minutes after placing the order it was not in the system and then one of the staff members said that they were out of a type of bagel… I understand that this can happen especially when bagels are made fresh, but as an employee you should be aware of your supply when you are taking an online call and also have record of the order. Additionally there was mass confusion between all 4 of the workers about my order even tho a male staff member had repeated my order back to me on the phone… it just seemed very disorganized and took a long time. I am willing to try again because like I said this is not usually my experience here, but I think it’s also something the owners should be aware of for a better customer experience. The staff did apologize for the wait so that was definitely...

My fair and honest review of DeLand Bagel. Overall 5 out of 5 stars.

Food: Our bagels were amazing, both cooked perfectly. I had a cremated Jalapeno Bagel with Jalapeno cream cheese. And my wife had an Asago Bagel with Bacon. Overall 5 star.

Service: Being our first time here, we were greeted and given time to check the menu and all the amazing bagels. We were given a great selection of options and the young lady helped us choose the perfect mix. Overall 5 star.

Atmosphere: While this is a small location, parking and table size are my only negatives. I personally feel the unique tables inside were just too large for the establishment, but this is my opinion only. While parking is off-street and community lots, this is still easily manageable in the morning. Overall 4 star.

Was sooooo looking forward to quality bagels in DeLand since we moved from Chicago and wow did they deliver. Having two little unicorns, the rainbow bagels caught my eye as our little ladies will love them. The Asiago cheese with Lox was what I ordered (spinach, Parmesan for the Mrs). I have to say the bagels are great but the Lox spread... absolutely the best cream cheese spread I have ever had in my life. The blend of dill, crunch of onion, and subtle textural meld of salmon still lingers in my tastebuds. Next time, the whole family is getting bagels! Side note: The espresso and coffee are not what we came for but kudos on bringing the A Game in that front as well. One stop shop to caffein-ate emphasis on ate in my opinion. Cheers.

As a native New Yorker (ughh I know), I’m picky when places claim to be New York style, but they usually aren’t. I was pleasantly surprised to find that NY Bagel & Deli Deland that does taste like the real deal! The bagels were great and absolutely reminiscent of the ones I used to devour growing up in NYC. The sesame bagel and the onion bagel were toasted to perfection. T. My bacon egg and cheese was good and my lady (Brooklyn native..ughh I know!) absolutely loved her Ham and Swiss with L&T, onion, and spicy brown mustard on a sesame bagel. I must try their hot sandwiches next time. And I would definitely like to see a better assortment of drinks, especially those native to NY like, Snapples, Arizona iced teas, etc.
