As I arrived at Goodtimes around midnight, I stood in line waiting to place my order. My check number for my order was Check 182, Table 105. Guy took my order. After ten minutes, I was given my burger, large wild fries, and fried pickles, and informed that my milkshakes would be right up. In this time an employee (taller employee) went on break, and proceeded to smoke weed and take dabs with the homeless customers on the benches in plain sight of all other customers ordering food. This doesn't offend me, although given the teams performance on this particular evening, I thought it wise to inform just how the franchise on Colfax operates, as this is not the first time I've seen this happen. "The bosses don't care if you smoke weed, as long as its on your break", I heard this individual announce, as he advocated to the homeless person that they should get a job there. After another ten minutes of waiting for my milkshakes, I was told by an employee with blue hair that they were out of custard, and could not fulfill my order, just as three custard milkshakes were being walked to a car in the drive up window behind him (these people had ordered food long after my order had been placed). I asked for a refund, and waited a while longer. In the time it took for the employee to tell me that they were out of custard, I could have walked to McDonalds across the street, and ordered McFlurrys before my refund was processed. He showed back up to the window with a refund of $2.16. I asked him why $2.16? He responded with, "Well, thats what the ticket says". I informed the employee that a Large Cookies and Cream milkshake is $5.99, and that a Small Vanilla Milkshake is $3.99, and asked how he came to that amount. "Thats what the computer says man", and proceeded to close the take out window, not allowing me to collect an accurate refund. By the time I had gotten home, I tried a bite of the burger that tasted like it had been microwaved, and tossed it in the trash, to enjoy only the wild fries and fried pickles that I paid $18 for. Is this how you garner repeat business? I used to go to this Colfax location numerous times a month, but I can no longer stand the lack of care, and abundance of carelessness that went on when I had spent my money there, Good luck with your...
Read moreIt was getting late, which unfortunately now means just after 9pm, so my food choices were becoming limited. --side note: I long for the days when on a Saturday night at 10pm or even later, one could easily find a local eatery which was open and serving food. This post-COVID, app-delivery, social-avoidance world sucks on so many levels, being relagted to chain and fast food options being one of them.-- After visiting three local venues along Capitol Hill's East Colfax Corridor, and bring told in each of them the kitchen had just closed, I surrendered to Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard. This decision was mostly due to the fact I had never been to one before and I noticed they had a walk-up window in addition to a drive-thru. A rather progressive touch, I thought. I was greeted by the person working the window with "it'll be at least 10 minutes, just so you know." Good information, though less than a good welcome. After very little consideration, I opted for a Patty Melt, as it was their featured menu item if the moment. It was indeed 10+ minutes and what I was given had very little resemblance to what was pictured on the signage touting this featured item. One of which heralded "toast above and toast below" though the vestages of what might have been toast very briefly at one point, were too soft, spongy, and grease laden to be considered that when I received it. Too, it stuck me as I was waiting for my meal, I hadn't even noticed the menus that listed they're Frozen Custard items, and they were quite numerous and varied. I almost went back up to the walk-up window and ordered an espresso frozen custard of some ilk, but recalled the forewarning of the wait, and thought better of it. This menu item could have been a plus, if only by virtue of it not too likely to have been a minus when compared to the sandwich of which I able to eat half. The extra star is for the walk-up window. Catering to and being of service to those who choose to get out of their cars is worth at...
Read moreAll I have to say is WoW and it was nice while it lasted good times.
I thought their next door neighbor was bad asking people who use apple pay to sign an anonymous receipt just so they can ask customers for tips, but good times has went above and beyond. This will destroy their business.
They used to give you something to sign and you could include a tip on it. Keep in mind this is a fast food restaurant who are getting paid much more than servers.
Now, they ASK YOU AT THE WINDOW AFTER YOU GIVE THEM YOUR CARD!!!
“Do you want to add a 15, 20, or 25% tip?”
First, you haven’t even done your job yet, and i’m supposed to tip you? Second, it’s not my job to pay for you to live, Good times should do that.
Last, that makes people feel SO AWKWARD. I bet a lot of people say yes just because of the confrontation, but I will be clear, normal people do not like fast food establishment asking for tips. It’s one thing if it’s on a computer, or on a receipt, but a DIRECT question. Sure you guys will get a majority of people who tip you, but a majority of that majority will avoid good times because they don’t want that interaction. I already have that feeling and I said no.
if you want people to tip, you put a QR code outside and say did we do a good job send us a tip. Or a tip jar. Not asking people directly...
