Watch out for this comment. You may not agree but editorial freedom is important for press freedom and progress. I have had people delete my comments and I think thats wrong. I have lost confidence in this court it is very unfair, they can help you on small petty issues but they cant provide any help when it counts. They are lots of good things going on in Denver and lots of progress is being made in many areas but this court is in bad shape. One of the judges Lisa Hamilton Feildman said some horrible racist things to me in the court room and nobody even seemed to be bothered. They then threw out my case against MHCD, I was trying to sue MHCD (Mental Health Center of Denver) for misdiagnosing me and giving me medication that made me sick. To top it off the "self help center" gave me wrong information which resulted in me loosing my right to appeal. The court did not even ask for evidence from me. MHCD has appointments back to back for clients paying $150 per consultation. thats over $1000.00 per doctor per day. That's a lot of money. They have to be held accountable for their actions because most of it is subsidized by the state. The government in Denver has put money at the forefront whilst putting people and health services in the back seat. I think money can be saved by correcting institutions that are causing more problems than they solve. Investing in people and helping people be more productive in the long term is another way...
Read moreThe current members mean well but have absolutely no clue what they are doing. I would be shocked if just one of the members had ever taken a basic economics or finance class. Their decisions are ruining the city as we can see in the housing issues and crime. Denver is #1 city for car thefts- all other crimes have risen dramatically as well- all while the national ave drops. I know a person whoâs car was stolen and she no longer could go to work or take her kids to school and didnât have $ to buy another car. A simple car theft can ruin a person or family just getting by and we have more than any city in the country!
They city council just passed the affordable housing mandate where builders need to make roughly 10% of homes/apartments built to be âaffordableâ - sounds great but the other 90% of renters or buyers will pay more to subsidize the 10%. So the teacher making 60k needs to pay more in rent. They also passed long term rental licensing which drives up the cost of rent. Last year denver lost more residents than gained and rent still went up 21% YOY. Every decision the council makes seems to make Denver even more difficult for the ave person to get by. If housing goes up for 90% and down for 10% should it really be passed as...
Read moreHow is Denver so inefficient at getting residential permits pushed through? If we have a surplus of tax that gets redistributed to tax payers every year at an inequitable rate (Tabor Tax), could the city not evaluate where there is more need for funding to be spent? Per the email image ⌠backlog clearly sounds like you do not have an appropriate level of staffing to perform the work at hand. I feel sorry for your current staff as they are likely under constant levels of stress with the increasing amount of work and insufficient staff levels to complete work in an appropriate time frame. According to permit flow, standard New York City permits take between 1 to 3 months in a city only slightly bigger than Denver (sarcasm).
@MikeJohnson ⌠looking to see some leadership for improvement. Iâm not saying fast approvals with poor outcomes, but appropriate department staffing to ensure suitable time expectations for the people you serve. These projects promote local business and economy while already having an overly inflated price tag due to the exacerbated price tag of Denver at its...
