I used to love going to movies at this theater. When my father first moved out to Denver in the spring of 2004, This was the closest theater to his apartment at the time and we would go catch a flick. Even after the rest of my family moved to be with him, we all watched films at this particular location. With that said, I have found in recent years that this theater has gone WAY downhill! Nowadays, they donāt care about who watches these things, just so long as they put butts in the seats! I cannot tell you as the reader how many times I have heard people talking, how many times I see people texting (those bright screens are not subtle by the way!) and how many times Iāve seen people walk in as late as a half hour into the movie! This is absurd! Fast forward to June 16th, 2018, I went to go see āUpgradeā at 6:00 as I had heard some great things about this movie. I figured the crowd wouldnāt be too bad as everyone else would be watching The Avengers, Deadpool 2 or Solo, but boy was I wrong! As someone who adores film and loves watching on the big screen, I have never had a more miserable experience watching a movie in my life! I found that all of the previous examples of horrible cinema behavior were in full force this time. Literally, the man sitting next to me was texting and acting like he was so subtle when he wasnāt subtle at all! The small group of people just a couple of seats away were either high or just plain obnoxious as they talked through the entire run time of the movie and someone showed up almost an hour late! This was quite disgusting behavior that was on display, and it is because theaters such as this do NOTHING to stop it and people who actually care about these movies and pay for them have to suffer! Over the past few years, I have been slowly transitioning to establishments such as the Alamo Drafthouse and smaller, independent theaters like the Chez Artiste and the Esquire as they actually care about the movie going experience! Simply put, I want the modern movie experience to die. Now that I have free and easy access to bus/light rail, I can visit the draft house and/or movie tavern whenever I please. Unless things change dramatically, I see no reason whatsoever as to why I should continue spending my hard earned money on a business that no longer cares about their product or their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreConveniently located on the 16th St. Mall in downtown Denver, this Regal theater (with the United Artists signage on the building's exterior) is a genuinely great spot to catch a movie. While best for first-run new releases and limited engagement restored & re-released older films, you know you'll be sitting in a a clean, modern cinema where theaters are rarely overly crowded (never uncomfortably so).
This facility has a massive RPX screen & theater, as well as a screen equipped & dedicated for 4DX screenings - where chairs are programmed to sync a viewer's motion with the movies camera movements & actiom while lighting effects and splashes of water spray are added for an immersive experience. I was sceptical at first, but when a film has been programmed well for 4DX (check movie-specific reviews!) it provides an exhilarating and occasionally jarring movie-going experience. I believe the Regal UA Denver Pavillions is the only facility in the greater Denver area that boasts a 4DX theater.
Staff in general are friendly and super helpful if you have a question or issue. I've seen staff willing to go above and beyond to accommodate guests - especially if you realize that reciprocal courtesy and respect go a long way towards resolving most issues satisfactorily.
Be aware that staff do check bags at the front entrance fairly regularly (mostly for weapons & glass, I've been told, but any outside food can also be confiscated at employees' discretion). Being on 16th St., there are dozens of diverse restaurants within a few minutes' walk of the cinema, so go for dinner/drinks before your showtime and you've got yourselves a nice lil' date night.
Thanks to all Regal/UA DP staff & managers for doing such solid work. Respect for a clean, safe, and comfortable facility. Y'all made it possible post-Covid to rediscover that nearly-lost joy of forgoing home, couch and tv to go sit in a dark room with other souls also hoping to escape their phones and be transported away from life's mundane drudgery for a few hours. 2025 is already shaping up to be a looong year of turmoil & tumult But whk knows, you may have just found your salvation on a screen, your escape from the everyday, in the celluloid sanctuary of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI absolutely would not recommend this theater to anyone with disabilities. The ADA requires all major movie theaters to have closed captioning devices for the deaf and hard of hearing. This is not something theaters offer to be kind or helpful. They are LEGALLY REQUIRED to offer this service, yet when I went to this theater for the opening of The Last Skywalker in December, they did not have the appropriate device charged and ready for use. I even called the theater the day before to make sure they had the correct device, and the manager I spoke with assured me they had it. After spending $35 on two tickets, I arrived at the theater to a rude box office worker who yelled at me when I asked her to repeat herself. Two managers came to assist, and instead of rectifying the situation, they made it worse by offering me a descriptive audio device for people with sight disabilities. I ended up leaving because no device was available, and I there is absolutely no point in me watching a movie when I cannot understand what is being said.
I have been going back and forth with Regal for over a week on this, and I still have not been refunded my money.
You are better off seeing a movie at the Cherry Creek AMC. They keep their devices right at the concessions stand, and there is no need to stand around and wait for a condescending manager to set up the device. And they validate...
