Odd Customer Service Experience. I feel like i was racially profiled, and rushed out of the store. This may not sound like anything, but it made me very uncomfortable.
As soon as i walked through the door, I was greeted by an employee at the MAC store (not Macyâs) It was a white girl, who asked what i was looking for. (Sounds good, right? đWell...)
I wasnât looking for anything particular, but kinda wanted to browse around. But then I thought of something i was interested in, and she took my to the area, picked it up for me, told me the color of it, and didnât really allow me to look at the item or touch it. I continued to look at a couple items in the area, and she hovered over me the entire time, still holding the item i wanted in the palm of her hand. Again, never allowing me to actually touch it.
Then she asked me if i wanted anything else. I kinda shrugged, (because i wasnât sure if i wanted anything else, i just wanted to look around, BUT I WAS MADE TO FEEL LIKE I COULDNT, she made me so uncomfortable) the white employee then walked my items to the counter to check them out. She didnât say... âwould you like to look around some more?â. Nothing. just rushed me to the counter to check me out, Never allowing me to SEE or TOUCH what i purchased. Literally, rushed me out the door.
There was another black girl working there (with great makeup BTW) who was NOT interacting with customers this way. She didnât hover over them, and not allow them to touch things.
This woman treated me like i was going to steal something. In my mind, i thought i may have been being self conscious & overreacting, because i am a black woman, and I was dressed down (because i had just came from work) and this is a sad experience we have when we shop.
but now that Iâm reading the reviews from other non black women saying that they were IGNORED when they came in, I KNOW i was racially profiled. Because i longed to be ignored! But that white woman would not allow me to touch anything or out of her sight!
It was humiliating. Iâve never stolen a thing in my life! From now on, Iâll buy make up online. That was a horrible feeling. I donât want to experience that again. I didnât feel that way when i went in the SEPHORA next door.
Whoever the owner or manager is of that store (could have been the white lady i met) that type of profiling is unacceptable. And we notice it! Shame on you for making a paying customer...
Read moreThe staff was helpful but the manager was not. Very rude. I purchased two foundations through an online promotion that ended up being the wrong color. I was told I had to either exchange online or go to an actual MAC location (not the MAC in Macy's) to exchange. When I got there I was greeted by a very friendly and pleasant employee and I explained what I needed. All I wanted to do was an exchange and thought it would be simple. The manager let him (the employee I spoke with) know that I would have to return the items and then purchase the ones that I needed at full price. I went to the manager myself to explain that I would like an even exchange becuase the price would be nearly $10 more per foundation. He would not even look at me and completely ignored me. He was very rude and had no customer service at all. I was getting the foundation regardless because I've been a loyal customer for years. If he could have just looked at me and explained that he couldn't for whatever reason (perhaps it is store policy) then I would have understood. Instead he ignored me as if I was beneath him. People pay alot of money for this type of makeup. I ended up purchasing the foundation this time because I was in a rush. However, I'm definitely going to take the time out to head to Sephora next time to try Fenty out. There are many quality makeup brands and unfortunately this made me want to try...
Read moreThe one star is in reflection of the associate who was VERY VERY RUDE, LOUD TEMPERED, AND OPINIONATED. Today is Friday 8/2/19 and the guy working the evening/night shift who has the small dreds/ braids at the top of his head gives this MAC a bad name. (please review the schedule to see who I'm referring to). Numerous times he included his self in my conversation I was having with others about my face products. He used his hands loudly when speaking to get his point across in the middle of doing a customers face.
He mentioned Ive been in the store too long trying to decide on my skin color. However, I was patiently waiting on CoCo who was the only other associate working especially when he took his break. Coco was VERY friendly, patient, and continued following up on those waiting on her. So this one star isnt for her. Vee came in later before closing who was also really friendly and helpful.
Employees need to be reprimanded for their interaction with customers and act orderly and professionally showing customers respect. It will make customers not want to purchase products from this location if these bad occurrences are...
