I wouldn't purchase ANYTHING from here if all of the other furniture stores in Evansville closed. Not only is their merchandise cheaply made and built to last far less than a tower made out of a deck of cards, staff are overbearing and downright rude. That is enough to put me off to ever spending any of my hard earned money at this place of business.
I have purchased furniture from this exact location in the past so decided this would be one of the stops we made to shop this weekend. We went in after a long day of shopping for our new home and was met at the door by two sales women fighting over who was going to get us and all but ran into us when we stepped a few feet in the door. After looking at countless pieces of overpriced junk that, if shook, shook long and hard, we decided that this was not the place to spend our money on furniture. We thanked the sales woman that had been trailing us around all over the store (even after being told more than twice that we would come get her if and when we found something we liked and that we did not need help currently) and told her that we did not see anything that we liked and were going to leave. She then proceeded to tell us she had "one more thing" to show us and led us to another area of the store to look at a metal canopy bed. We went up to the bed and although it was somewhat visually appealing, when touched and shook, even slightly, this thing sounded and looked as rickety as 50 year old scaffolding. The materials used were also over very poor quality and thin. My Fiancee couldn't hold her tongue any longer and made a comment that is was not going to work for us and it was chintzy. The sale woman scoffed and disappeared. As we walked up to the front of the store to exit we saw our sales woman gossiping to a group of her coworkers and telling them what we said about the bed. They were all laughing and taking shocked and appalled gasps of air all while our sales woman was trying to hide her finger as she pointed at us. She was literally standing at the front of the store, in front of other customers and all, talking about myself and my Fiancee, and laughing with her coworkers at our comment. VERY professional if you ask me. It is not our job as consumers to like everything and talk up your crap furniture. It is our job to inspect any potential purchase for quality. The quality of the furniture was poor and unchangeable, however, it was truly the staff and service that left an even more dissatisfied taste in our mouths at this location. Maybe if the staff had a little more couth than that, it would have at least made walking out of this store a little more pleasant.
BOTTOM LINE: The merchandise is of very poor quality with no hope for longevity. You would more or less be buying "disposable furniture" that you would soon need to replace. The sales staff are trained to trail you like bloodhounds and are not respectful of your boundaries. Immature, rude, and extremely ill mannered in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe bought several pieces of furniture from Value City. We have had nothing but disappointment and horrible customer service. First the mattress: the first one sagged terribly and caused horrific back pain for both my husband and I. We were told until it sags 3" they would not take it back (it sagged 2.5") about two weeks later it was a 3". After fighting with them they took it back and allowed us to get another, that one sagged 3" also after a short period of time. Once again we had to fight to get another mattress...and once again the same problem. I told them I was finished with dealing with their inferior mattresses. They said they would give us half our money OR we could purchase something else. We decided to get living room furniture. We had also gotten a dining room table and chairs. The finish has never good. They took it back to refinish it the first time and when they returned the table the finish cracked all over the entire table. They took it back the second time and told us we would have it back 2-3 weeks, it was closer to two months. When they returned the table it was horrible. The leaves in the table were very dark and the left and right sides were very light, it did not match at all! SO they took it back once again. This time they returned it when we were not home and told them since the young adult would be there. I said that if something was not right since I was not going to be home how would they handle that..I was told to call and they would fix it...they lied! This time you could see drip marks from the finish and also over-spray lines and the leaves were much lighter this time. They told me they would pick it up today and sent someone out here to talk with me instead. I received a call tonight stating that would charge us a "user fee" of about 50% and let us pick out something else with the other half with an in-store credit. They told my husband that they would pay him $350.00 to refinish it himself as they WERE NOT going to fix it again...they completely messed it up every time and basically told us they were not going to do anything about their inferior furniture. I was told by a salesperson there that they screw their customers and employees. The employee said they have to pay the company to work there if they are not selling furniture. One of the delivery people said they had been having trouble with this particular piece of furniture...they are not selling it anymore...I WOULD WARN YOU NOT TO GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THIS COMPANY AS THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND THE QUALITY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCAREFUL, if you select delivery!!! Purchased a new bed from Value City Furniture in Evansville, IN. They chose a 3rd party shipping company for setup and delivery. The Driver from the shipping company , backed into our new home we just moved into. Then refused to help unload anything, antagonized me to try and get me to fight. I decided to video instead and he continues to call me a "LIAR on my own property" parked up against our new house he just drove into. How about a "sorry" ? This happened 4 weeks ago. Value city has waived the delivery fee but that's it. Oh and for the home damage, We were told "sorry , but you have to deal with the shipping company since its 3rd party". WE got an estimate from our contractor, they wanted the same delivery driver to bring us the payment (i guess they take the funds out of his personal check) We told them to mail a check or use any of the other methods of transferring payment. They then come back and tell us we need to get additional quotes since its over 1000.00 . otherwise they can only pay us 1000.00 (company policy) . As of a week ago, the shipping company stopped answering phone calls and replying to emails. My wife and i have no less than 10 hours invested in sending emails with pictures and videos, waiting on hold, chasing down quotes....We should be reimbursed by VALUE CITY!!!! and they can work out reimbursement from their shipping company, but I am told it doesn't work that way. I highly advise against doing any business with VCF and their cut rate delivery company they choose!!! If I could post negative stars I would. *UPDATE a week later. I have called Corporate office and spoke to them about getting nowhere with the shipping company about damages to our new home. They told me they would call back Monday. I heard nothing so I called Tuesday, they said the supervisor I needed to speak with was busy and would call me back ASAP, its now FRIDAY and no one has bothered to reach out. It is so comforting to know i was honest in my feedback and they are disappointed I didn't have a better experience. This company is a Joke and only cares about themselves and nothing about their customers once they get their $. **FINAL UPDATE: I like to be fair and genuine in my reviews. So, we still never heard back from VCF, but we did receive a check to cover our damages from the shipping company. We will not be back for...
