August 2023 - we have had an awesome experience at McBee Station. We could NOT have asked for a better location. The few times we have been to the leasing office they have been lovely and helpful.
Quiet and convenient here, walk two blocks and turn the corner (left OR right) and you get the energy and buzz of downtown Greenville. Publix is steps from our door so we can get fresh food more often, loads of restaurants, music, a Farmers Market every Sat am, parks for our dogs, the amazing Falls Park for a romantic stroll. We lived here 30 years ago and this is NOT the same Greenville. It's AMAZING!! The artist shops in Falls Park, the shops along all the other local streets, the baseball field! We enjoyed watching the Drive play! We hope to come back for soccer and hockey also. There's also a SUPER venue called Yee Haw which has a huge screen outdoors, with lots of picnic tables and bar tables. A terrific place to catch the Braves games!
McBee apartments are very convenient, nicely laid out. Ours was a 2BRL2BA. All have patio/balconies to enjoy. We used Corporate Connections to have ours fully furnished for the few months we were here. The apartment itself could use a "tiny" bit of attention to cosmetic details (paint splatter, shower curtain bar loose, shades could be oiled for ease of use) but nothing big. One or two things we needed from maintenance was taken care of promptly. The gardens - well maintained. The garage is a terrific plus in case of storms.
*Nothing taken away from McBee, just a note to give a heads up - The Broadview condos are being built across the way on Daniel Francis. They work HARD, often 6 days a week. Doesn't bother us, but there is construction noise. MOST of the outside is done so it's MUCH better than it was in May, June & July. Should be finished about Sept/Oct, based on their speed.
We couldn't have been happier with this location! Would HIGHLY recommend...
Read more-Location - the best! -Amenities - incredible - always clean, well-decorated, well maintained (gym, pool, etc) -Maintenance team is on point! -Layouts - very well-planned spaces and the largest floor plans you will find downtown -Events - wow, y'all totally out-do yourselves - we've only been to a few, but they always exceed expectations -Great addition with resident rewards app!
Areas for improvement:
-Staff - maintenance is incredible, but office needs consistent staffing - we have seen so much turnover in the 1.5 years we have been here. -Need to do something about the dog pee smell in the outdoor walkway areas - sometimes it's enough to turn your stomach - yuck! It seems like everyone owns a dog here (except us, haha!) We don't sit on our back porch, because everyone takes their dogs out to pee back there, and it stinks! I'd suggest a dog-free/cat-only building?!!?!? -Love that there is an airbnb of sorts on property for guests - but it's often booked - maybe add another? Also, it's a pain to have to coordinate parking for guests -Communication - need a texting app to communicate why alarms are going off, safety issues, etc - sometimes fire alarms in our building have gone off multiple times (due to rain, we later learned) and we had no idea what was going on. -Trash valet - great perk, but we often get skipped - we follow the rules, but at least once per week our trash is still in our bin in the morning - a bit inconvenient!
Idea - maybe have donation pick up days? It would be awesome if a local charity was coordinated with once a quarter to pick up items for donation. I think a lot of people would jump...
Read moreGlorified motel. The location is about the only thing McBee has going for it. The entire renovated unit is covered in cracked/ripping wallpaper/dirty carpet and half of the time their gym equipment was out of order without cups in the water jug or sanitation wipes available. I had multiple packages stolen from my door during Christmas time as there is no key fob entry for the elevators or stairwell (should make you feel pretty safe knowing at any given moment there could be a criminal roaming your breezeway). The water pressure was inconsistent in the unit and the guest bathroom shower had a soft spot in the floor that felt like you could fall through. Additionally, my unit had an infestation of ants, cockroaches climbing through cracks in the shower wall/in the bathroom vents and upon the final week of the lease ending, the leasing company did not return my calls for the final few days and instead called me Friday at 4pm and asked if I was available right now (because they don't work weekends). I was told I should have scheduled this walkthrough at least a week in advance and after being assured by the agent on the phone that my apartment should be fine based on all the cleaning we had done, we were charged a cleaning fee (shady and dishonest). Greenville is growing rapidly and brand new luxury apartments are popping up left and right - unless you’re desperate, you should...
