I was overcharged at Henderson Ulta for x2 totally different items today ($12 for $9 hairties, and $8 for $7 nail polish). This was within the same purchase. During ringing up the sale, I politely pointed out both of the errors to the cashier. She called over manager to fix the hairtie mischarge ($9 price was visible on package), and had the cashier run to the isle to confirm the error pricing of the nail polish. I was correct on both mischarged items. They fixed it without making any eye contact with me, never speaking to me either. Nobody apologized to me, they just quietly handed me my bag & it was quite awkward. Mistakes happen & I was genuinely not upset at all about the few dollars and I was very polite to both of them, maybe they were just embarrassed?? Or maybe they were wondering how this error happened?? But how they were just ignoring to acknowledge the error did seem odd, there was no form of customer service extended, no simple, "Sorry about that, have a good day." I had to unfortunately explain to them both that overcharging a customer for not just one, but for TWO items is outrageous in itself, and appropriate social etiquette is to apologize when an error is made, especially in a business of customer service sales. (STILL no apology nor acknowledging the error, smh). I did not buy the polish & went back to return the hairties that evening. On principal, as I did not feel good about owning the item, or with the stores experience of how they handled a simple small error which I honestly was not even initially upset about.
Hair salon was also rude. As I was shopping for the above items that day, I passed by the salon area looking for a nail station to advise about the polish I was buying (special natural nail hardening kit after falsies). No such luck. Anyways, a hairdresser, who seemed like their manager, saw me eyeballing the salon and asked to help me (she popped her head up from behind a short wall, which seemed a bit nosey to me but I digress). Since my favorite curly shag hairstylist has recently moved away I replied with a hopeful smile, "Do you have any stylists with shorter hair working here?" and the lady looked at me as though I just kicked her dog! Haaaaa. She was SO visibly disgusted saying, "A stylists hair does not reflect her talent!" and she was overly offended which, yes I do see her point however every lady working there had long straight hair well past shoulder blades. They basically all had straight boring boxy haircuts with bangs reminiscent of a 10 year old church girl at Supercuts and the curly layered cut I am after is VERY challenging to master lol. I've been a runway hair model for Matrix and Ive had $400 haircuts and well anyways I know that shorter punky cuts just require more skill education & reflect more of a unique trendy cut. I am the client & I want what I want. Anyway, I could sense this lady just wanted to find any reason to dislike me & get all sassy, so I just flatly informed her that, "My experience with haircuts are that my hair tends to turn out looking like theirs, so that's why I asked. Thanks." and I just left her & her aggressive attitude.
The only employee that was professional toward me was the brown girl working there, in the perfume isles. =) Im not confirming the microaggressions from the staff in general at this suburban Ulta are specifically racist, but I am saying that it definitely is a toxic environment and I will not return to their business after my hostile experience there today. You can find me at their competitors up the street...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell , it's been a long time since I have had such a good experience and bad one within the same hour and within the same store ... i usually love ulta , but I have never been impressed at check out ....today was no exception ... I had the nicest thin brunette help me buying my perfumes for my daughter and mother for Xmas... I wish I had gotten her name becuz she was awesome and very personable... However when I was checking out I Gave the girl my phone so she could scan my 2 coupons.. my 5$ coupon and the coupon for 40% off of anything over $40 ( not including perfumes ) the total was $ 269.42... $165.00 in perfumes ... which should have come each with a blanket , but I only received one ... and also a special gift with purchase ..which I didn't receive and when I tried to ask the lady was short with me as tho I was at fault for asking why I didn't get 2 blankets or the special gift with purchase , and why the $5 coupon and the 40% one she scanned didn't come up .. she said that I didn't have 40 $ worth of purchases that weren't on sale ... I didn't think she was right but wanted to get home and see was the truth was before I started into a confrontation as I could tell she was much too eager to have had with me ( which sucked becuz after I take back 100$ worth of products due to their misrepresentation and her bad attitude Iwill have to drive further to go to the ulta on Eastern & Horizon Ridge from now on) ... Anyways , when I looked at the receipt I didn't know how I couldn't have had 40$ in purchases to get the 40 % off since I spent 269 ..and 165 of it was in perfume .. I knew I had a few sale items but the rest was buy 2 get one free .... NOW THIS GETS GOOD ... IF IT HAD BEEN RUNG UP AS BUY 2 GET ONE FREE I WOULD HAVE QUALIFIED THAT THAT DISCOUNT AND THE REASON I WENT TO ULTA IN...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Ulta for a makeup tutorial; I wanted someone to apply makeup to my face so that I could see how to do it myself. I explained that to them. I had never done this before, so I was not prepared to have the woman who did my face just go ahead and throw foundation and concealer on me, with a bit of highlighter. She held up the mirror and I looked dead...that's right. My face was chalk white. There had also been no explanation of what she was doing, and there was NO CONTOURING or blush or anything that would make me look anything but covered in white foundation. I was too inexperienced with this to squeak up about it, so I left, pleasantly, paid for my "tutorial" with a generous tip, and bought some foundation (I chose one slightly darker than the one used). This was not a professional makeup session. I look way better the way I am doing it myself already at home with my own products. I wanted an improvement and more than just the simple look I give myself. I explained to the makeup person that I am going to be doing some online presence work and need to look very polished. This "makeup makeover" was nothing like that. It was, frankly, a complete bust. I will never recommend Ulta for a makeup...
