L.L.Bean — Local services in Hudson

I’m going to be completely honest, I was really uncomfortable at the store. I brought my mother to purchase some Hoka shoes. She’s an outdoors/hiking Professional from Puerto Rico, visiting. We arrived, they were two employees upfront, and no one greeted us, no big deal. We walked towards the back to check the shoes. We started looking around, one of the guys that was upfront finally helped us. The entire time we were sitting down, trying on shoes, felt like all eyes were on us, from the employees. We picked the shoes that we wanted. The employee took the box and told us they will keep it for us at the registers. We cashed out and the lady didn’t even offer us a bag, just handed us the box. When I asked her for a bag, she looked at me weird said oh yes I guess you need one. My mom was already uncomfortable so she said don’t worry. I’ll just take the box. Not sure if it’s just me but I didn’t care for that interaction. I usually buy from LLBean mostly on the website. I think I’m gonna stick to the site and not go...

This store is well stocked with fresh updated items and has all the LL Bean merchandise a fan of the brand would want. However what this store lacks is the true spirit of LL Bean, rooted in customer service and empathy. I’ve been to numerous stores of LL Bean, including the pilgrimage to Freeport once a year. I’ve never had a worse experience in an LL bean store has I did in Hudson. Cold and unconnected staff. Untrained newbies on register and a management staff that was downright rude and unapologetic. Left there feeling gross after they made a mistake and couldn’t care less to...

An employee named Ray helped me out so much. I didn't have hiking shoes or a sleeping bag or a water filter system for hiking Mt. Katahdin. He listened to my concerns and gave suggestions based on my background and experience as a runner for appropriate gear that would be most comfortable for a long hike. So incredibly helpful and genuine, I had a made a human connection and my trip would not have been possible without his knowledge...
