========Mar 2025 UPDATE========== Management has been working with me since Feb, a few issues have been addressed to some degree. However there has been an outstanding issue with the electricity bills in this building since Dec.
Many units have issues with the electricity bills. For me in particular, my meter is crossed with someone else’s. See attached a comparison of meter readings and my heat usages you will understand how ridiculous this situation is. I have been calling PSEG and they consistently told me this issue has to be resolved together with the building manager. Despite submitting all these evidence and requests to Bisby, they came back to me after one and a half months claiming that “the billing statements, they appear to be accurate” and “they are not out of the ordinary.“ Even though this is also part of PSEG’s fault, this really frustrates and disappoints me because I can tell at this point the management for some reason doesn’t really pay attention to the tenants’ issues, and I feel deeply unfortunate that I chose to move in here last summer.
Updates on other issues: USPS mailbox has been functioning since Feb. Mice have been seen in the building in Aug and Nov 2024. I am not aware of any mice incidents since then. Common areas still under construction with no clear timeline of opening, though they claim it will be available in Spring. Noise is still a problem here if you leave the window open. They claim the rent increase for $200 is correct which is contradictory to what I was promised before signing the contract. Haven’t seen Marcel for a while, not sure if he’s removed from here. But last time I saw him he is still acting weird.
UPDATE========== More than two weeks have passed since the management replied and claimed that they would reached out to me for a resolution. They NEVER REACHED OUT. This is what everything has been going on since we moved in. They never really wanted to resolve your issues and always give false promises.
My rating will remain 1 star until issues are resolved. Do you have important mails, like new credit cards, tax documents, immigration forms, letters from your friends? Well, good luck with those. Not a single USPS letter has been delivered. Mice in the units. Utterly disgusting. Common areas still under construction. Not as advertised on their website. When you apply online, you never get any information about that being in progress. The leasing office would argue that this was communicated during the tour. But they don’t seem to realize that not everyone can come tour before they apply. So technically this is a fraud. Noise is a huge concern especially for units facing the train tracks. Tenants have reported this issue several times in the past few weeks, but management remains silent. When I apply I asked if I could add 4 more months to my lease, making it 16-month. They said yes and increased my monthly rent by $200. Disgraceful business. The doorman Marcel is a racist. Friendly to white people, greet them nicely but don’t even look at you when you talk to him if...
Read moreIn summary: This building is not for you if you value quiet/peaceful living. Hard to know this from a viewing.
Pros: nice balconies, very aesthetically pleasing, doormen and women are great. Maintenance guy is 10/10. Close to path station. Nice gym. In-unit laundry.
None of this matters to me in the end because unfortunately the building is so loud and my sleep is disturbed several nights a week. Management does not care about tenant experience.
Cons: So loud. The walls are thin and I have had issues with noise from neighbouring units since day 1. Barking dogs, loud music/tv late into the night, thudding, yelling, parties etc. I’ve spoken to management several times and been proactive on this issue. I’ve caught someone urinating onto my balcony before. Abhorrent. Building management turnover is high and they don’t seem to care about resident experience. The only time I got a satisfactory response from management was when I had to call the police about a major disturbance. And even then it took several emails to several different managers to have someone call me. It’s really disappointing considering the “luxury” experience which is sold here.
There was a major issue with mail which has since been resolved. Many people had letters/packages missing during this time. I had fraud occur due to my mail being delivered to the wrong location. Water pressure in the building isn’t great (tip - check the shower if you come to view). I personally haven’t experienced the construction noise which others have mentioned. My noise complaints are tenant related. (I’m on a high floor, south facing).
I wanted to like this building, I tried to like this building, but I just don’t. I’m posting this as a cautionary tale because I was charmed when I came to view the Bisby and I don’t want others to be in this same situation. The Bisby is new, modern and very easy to fall in love with after a viewing. I would urge you to think twice before moving here if you’re sensitive to noise.
My boyfriend lives in one of the older buildings in Newport (Southampton) and while it’s not as “pretty” it’s very quiet and comfortable (and cheaper). Consider this as a better Newport option if you’re open to an...
Read moreWe’ve lived at The Bisby for some time and have appreciated many aspects of the building—but unfortunately, the ongoing and unresolved noise issues make it completely unlivable (video attached from 2:53am).
The positives: The door staff is outstanding—kind, helpful, and always professional. The maintenance team is top-notch—anytime we’ve had an issue with appliances not working, it’s been resolved almost immediately. The apartments themselves are modern and nicely designed, though the materials feel a bit cheap for the price point.
The core issue: noise. On the south side of the building, there’s a ventilation tower for the PATH trains that produces constant, piercing mechanical noise, especially on weekends and overnight. It’s been happening since late 2024, and recently has been nonstop for 48+ hour stretches on weekends. We’re not talking mild white noise—this is loud, grating sound that makes it impossible to sleep or relax in your own home. On the north side, a new building is under construction, so that side is the same situation.
The result? We’ve spent entire weekends unable to sleep or stay in our apartment. During the week, we’ve been woken up at 2 or 3am by the noise on countless nights, unable to fall back asleep due to the duration of the noise. We’ve had to sleep on a friend’s couch just to get rest multiple times. Emails to management have been met with sympathy and a promise to escalate to PATH authorities, but the noise continues to be an issue and in fact is becoming worse.
Sadly, this building is completely unlivable due to sound pollution. Unless the noise issue is addressed permanently (it’s been happening since we moved in September 2024), we can’t recommend living here—your family, your health, and your work-life will severely suffer as a result of the noise.
Please note: I will update my review when the issue is resolved. Like I said, building staff is wonderful and the Bisby otherwise would be a lovely place to live were it not for the crippling, debilitating...
