SAIL NYC — Local services in Jersey City

The plan was to charter a yacht for a cruise around NYC where I was going to pop the question and then get dropped off in Brooklyn, where all of our family and friends would be waiting for us. It was July 11, 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic and I could not find anyone who would accommodate any arrangements for my engagement idea. I reached out to Captain Dan and he came to the rescue. Captain saved the day and it was the perfect proposal! Not only did he accommodate all of my requests, he also arranged for everything to be taken care of so I didn’t have to worry about anything (I was already nervous about the proposal, keeping it a secret and making sure everything was perfect).

We got on the gorgeous and clean yacht and sailed off into the sunset. We stopped for some photos around the Statue of Liberty with the NYC skyline in the background and that’s when I popped the question. After she said yes, we popped some bubbly and off we went. We arrived at our destination and were greeted by family and friends. Captain Dan made it happen and everything was perfect. I highly recommend SailNYC and Captain Dan for anyone looking to rent a boat in NYC for any occasion!

This two-hour harbor excursion aboard the 40-foot Zingara was a first-class experience for all five members of our family party. Captain Dan was gracious in arranging for me, before confirming our reservation, to inspect in person the handsome, well-appointed, thoroughly shipshape craft. If he couldn’t be given credit for ordering up ideal late-spring weather, he and his pleasant-humored mate, Jair (hope I’m not mangling the spelling too badly), without fuss did everything to be wished for in making us comfortable and happy. Both of them were good company, informative without being officious, easy-going—important contributors to the overall pleasure of the experience. As this birthday present for my wife, my son and I had seriously considered the idea of a Manhattan helicopter ride. Phenomenal night with Captain Dirk. I highly recommend Captain Dirk and his services. It was an unforgettable experience and my daughters said “it was the best night of their lives.”

Captain Dirk was unbelievable with my daughters. He let them drive the boat and was teaching them along the way. They had smiles from ear to ear the whole night.

The boat is gorgeous. So well kept and spotless. It was a smooth ride and even though we were born and raised in NY, seeing the attractions from the boat was amazing. We were in awe that we were literally right in front of the Statute of Liberty and were able to take photos that will last a lifetime.
