This is the first time Ive written a review. My experience was so terrible that I felt obligated to do so. When I went into the shop I was immediately greeted with a smile. I asked the gentlemen in the first chair how many people are waiting. Visibly there were 3 however he told me that I'd be next because 1 was waiting for another barber not yet in and the other two were hanging out I guess. So I said cool and paid the meter and took a seat. There were 4 out 5 barbers and right before a chair was available an older gentleman walked in. And as soon as the chair became available the barber immediately asked him tp take a seat. I am a very patient person so I decided not to say anything halfway assuming maybe he had an appointment. (making excuses for them, I guess). So now about a 45 minutes had gone by, a long time for being next. Then the barber in the first chair was done so of course I assumed that he'd be the one to cut me next. Nope! He grabbed one of the guys that was sitting there before I walked in. After he had said the he didn't want a cut! So, ok he changed his mind, I can't get upset after all he WAS there before I. So now I have been there for a little over an hour. Finally the barber directly in front is finished, by then there isn't anyone else waiting but me. The 5th chair barber gets in and grabs the last guy waiting before I. Clearly Im next. NOPE! The barber disappears to the back and 10 minutes later emerges with basket full of towels. Now I am sitting there, looking at an open chair, watching the only available barber fold towels, like he works for bed, bath and beyond and not a barbershop. By now things are extremely awkward because no one has said anything to me since I first walked in, in fact no one even acknowledged that I was there. I guess they assumed that I just wanted to watch them cut other peoples hair and talk about there trip to Vegas. Then Finally after about an hour and a half, the first and only guy that had spoke to me and asked the most obvious question "Are you still waiting?" I said yes of course then he gets the towel folding barber and asks him to cut my hair. SMDH! I was directly in front of the guy the whole time. I finally get in the chair and the barber had zero conversation, actually it seemed as though he hated his job and would much rather be folding towels than cutting my hair. I should've risked it but I did. I have to say it was the most awkwardly silent 30 minutes of my hair cut life. I am 35 and have been getting a hair cut all over the country every other week since I was 5. Honestly this fade was subpar to even supercuts or great clips. I wouldn't recommend this shop to even a homeless person, even if the cut was free. I wish they had a 303 Barbershop out here. Always top of the line fades and not once have I been...
Read moreNote: one of the photos I’m uploading was a past haircut from this shop.
I’ve been coming to this shop for a while and usually get consistent 7–9/10 haircuts here. Unfortunately, today broke that trend — I received perhaps the worst haircut I’ve ever had.
The barber I saw, Ace, was the issue. Here’s what went wrong: • I showed him reference photos of my last cut from this shop, and he didn’t follow them. • He asked me questions about how I like my hair, but then did the opposite. When I corrected him, his tone became rude. • I have a widow’s peak forming, and he cut away the hair that normally covers it — a straight chop that looks unnatural. • He was rudely on the phone for much of the cut, kept me turned away from the mirror so I couldn’t see what was happening, and rushed the entire process. • The haircut is noticeably asymmetrical. Even my coworkers and roommates immediately pointed out how bad it looks. • The price was far higher than what I’ve paid with other barbers here, despite the poor quality.
I have important client meetings this week and needed a clean cut — instead I had to go home and fix it myself in the mirror. I normally recommend this shop to friends, but this experience with Ace was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
I’ve added a couple photos to show what the past couple haircuts have looked like.
Yes in the new photo it is styled, it is just dramatically less dense than normal with...
Read moreThis is a review for Kai/Keisha, the woman who oddly rents out the back room of AOF. She has a business called Beauty of the Body Spa Suites.
First of all, It is not a suite or a spa. It’s a back room that’s over-cluttered with weird knick knacks and kitschy gifts that look like they’ve been bought from a gas station or a 99 cent store. Like cheap mini shampoo, post it’s, and colored pencils. She places them in gift bags and tries to promote them as “wellness packages.” She unprofessionally tries to sell you these weird items that nobody would ever care to buy. Just go to the nearest CVS. It’s very weird and desperate. But, hey, we’re in LA. And apparently she’s one of those people who are really trying to make it.
Second, her entire setup is extremely uncomfortable for her customers. There is no privacy for the clients she services in the back room. At all. Whether it’s a hair appointment or spa appointment. The only bathroom in the entire shop, including the barber shop, is in the back room where Keisha’s “spa” is. So during your “spa” appointments you have the men from the barber shop walking back and forth through Kai’s room to use the bathroom while she is doing her spa routines with you. It’s awkward for the men and horrible for the women who are seen in mid procedure.
Keisha, please remove/organize all that clutter and decide whether you want it to be a hair...
