I don't normally write bad reviews but I do when I need to. I am a fashion photographer from San Diego, California shooting for 6+ years, and I usually rent photo studios in the LA area, and I've rented from numerous ones in the LA area. I had a photo shoot with 2 models from a modeling agency in LA, and I needed a studio. I always like trying out new photo studios just so I can find the best one. Let me tell you, I AM NOT COMING BACK TO FD PHOTO STUDIO EVER AGAIN! Horrible service, false advertising, dirty, all of the above! I first came in, and there's this big guy with glasses listening to his headphones on the computer. He tells me my total for 4 hours is going to be $120+ and I saw on their website $19.99 an hour. I know it says "starting from $19.99/hour" but I saw photos in their "studio gallery" that even says "STAGE B: $19.99" "STAGE C: $29.99", It's like don't write those prices there if you don't want people to get confused with your prices. I mean they are not even specific with their prices. No where does it say their actually prices. It just says "starting from..." which can get people really confused, which is why I was confused. He then didn't clear up anything for me. He just said "yeah.. it's on our website". I was already in a rush, so I didn't care and just went inside the studio. I came in STAGE B, and there is absolutely NOTHING set up. They said they would accommodate me based on my shoot, but nothing was set up. Not even the roll paper, or anything! They don't have much in the studio as other studios I've tried. I like CONCRETE STUDIOS in LA a lot! They have a lot better equipment and furniture. This FD PHOTO STUDIO place only had 1 table! 1 table! And it was mainly for the make up artist! You think 1 table is enough for a whole team? And their music player was so broken, it was very muffled, and kept stopping. Their clothes rack was about to break. I started to set up my lighting and roll paper, and as I was rolling down the white roll paper, I saw it was very dirty, with foot prints all over it, and then when it reached the ground, THERE WAS NO MORE PAPER! I mean come on! What kind of place is this?! I then went over to that big guy with glasses in the front desk, and he's like "ohh... i guess the guy from yesterday forgot to change it out.." and he's like "do you want me to change it?" and I'm like "uh duhh!" and so he gets up very slow, he must be tired or something, because he was moving in slow motion, and grabs some paper and changes it. It took him awhile, so I asked if this was coming out of my rental, and he said "ehh, i might be able to add 10 minutes to your time.." I was like "what am i going to do in 10 minutes?! go to the bathroom?!" Haha this guy was ridiculous! Then he went back to his computer and put on his headphones again. I assumed he was listening to music. I had to roll the paper down myself! Didn't even want to help me! Like I said, go to CONCRETE STUDIOS LA! They help you with everything and stay there to accommodate you with anything you need! This guy here at FD PHOTO STUDIO is just bored out of his mind. It's like he hates his job. Didn't want to help me at all. I rolled the paper down myself and then guess what? He doesn't even offer tape or anything to secure the paper! So I had to walk outside again and ask him for tape and he's like "Oh yeah... here you go.." and then I taped it down. And then I started to set up the lights. All they had was these cheap Alien Bee's. No Profotos or anything high end. And then I went outside to ask the guy again if he has a boom. He's like "uhh.. what boom?" Im like "has this guy ever seen a studio before?" he then grabs me a boom in the back, which is so unorganized with materials and photo equipment, and then I ask him how to put it on, because it was a weird looking boom, and then he's like "you don't know how to put it on?" and I'm thinking "if you had any decent customer service at all, you would help me put it on in the first place!" I just want to say: SAVE YOUR MONEY, SAVE YOUR TIME! NEVER GO TO FD...

Read moreThe owners lied to us a bout a few things...the gated parking lot that put us behind 20 minutes. The strobes that were not equipped with receivers, and there were no *extras such as fans and whatnot as described by the website. Also the power and wiring in my particular studio, Studio A was inadequate to the point it could have been illegal ie. less than 15 AMP circuits...
When i brought these things to the owners attention he smugly played it all off and insulted the intelligence of the people on set that were a bit less technical to know what was really going on..
DO NOT pay for this place unless you plan on using natural light thats about all its good for and frankly there are better places out there in the same 5...
