Someone wrote about the fitting room issues, it being closed early and they're absolutely right. I've experienced the same. I've been there pretty early and the fitting rooms were closed. Not for bathroom breaks, but closed for the rest of the day.
About an hour before the store closes, they make 9 million announcements reminding you that they are closing. As if they're addressing children. It's quite annoying. They lock the door at 9:45pm. I've never seen another Ross store do that. Never that early. And I've been to quite a few. That's fine, it's not that deep for me, I can deal with all of that.
What bothers me the most is how rude and unprofessional some of the employees are. No customer service skills. No courtesy. Fast food employees are way more professional and polite. They're crass, unpolished and dismissive, especially when handling a challenging situation.
They are ignorant and inconsistent with their own store's policies. Confusion ensues and the info that is given is a guess at best. What?! I've had them hang up the phone abruptly as the conversation was ending, because I asked a question to which they didn't have a clear answer. I called 2 other Ross stores and they were clear about the store's policies. Most Ross stores I've visited are more courteous to their customers. They really need some strong customer service training.
On a whole, Ross needs to hold their employees to a higher standard. They're borderline disgruntled. The understaffing issue and recession is not a factor. It's been like that way before then. I've noticed most stores outside the central LA area are way more polite. The employees at TJ Maxx and Marshalls are way nicer. Because Ross's merchandise are discounted lower than their competitors, shouldn't mean their standard of service should be lowered as well. Ross needs...

I left the room for 60 seconds to give back the torn shirt .the attendant asked me to return my number to get 1 less . When I came back to my room which was about 18 feet from the entrance my purse was gone .I couldn't get help from anyone .The fitting room attendant was useless she simply said she saw nothing and that security would come soon .I waited for what seemed like 7 minutes then I ran to the front only to find the security guard greeting guest as they walked in .I told her what occurred and she said all she could do was check the cameras .I was crying and very shocked because I lost had 450.$ credit cards. identification .phone. keys ...All my essentials ..I walked out of that Ross with only the clothes on my back .Trying to remember1 phone number so I could get help .I ask the guard to call the police she told me I could call them myself and handed me her phone .I spoke to an officer that said they would need the guard to find evidence on the cameras and then they would come and investigate ,as I'm hearing this I'm realizing all my things are gone for good and I have know contacts . The security guard let me know she saw nothing suspicious and that there was nothing she could do . No employees came to help not one manager came to assist the situation.at least write down my info in case something turned up . Read moreI arrived at the store on 02.24 at about 2:30pm. I'm back to the basket more than 8 things that I planned to measure. I asked the woman who was there if I could then change the items I had already taken to the ones left in the basket, she said “yes of course”. When I went out to exchange the 4 pieces that I had already exchanged for the ones in the basket, there was already another guy and he said I should bring all eight pieces of clothes. And two pieces from 8 was on me. When I said that I was told before that I could change it like that, I said I needed to be fast that's why I did it. This guy started to be rude to me. I was angry not because that it is impossible, but that the staff is not competent, and this guy is as unfriendly as possible and behaves as if he hates everything that lives on this earth. He did everything as slowly as possible and was distracted by conversations with other employees to annoy me. When I left the fitting room and at the end I didn't want to talk to this guy at all. He asked about something and I told him to count the clothes and I would take what I want from there myself.He told me that it was his store and that I would get out of there. He didn't want to give away my clothes and chased me away. When I did call the manager, she helped me and when I was at the checkout I saw him going to other employees and talking about me and they looked at me and shook their heads like I was a bad person.
