I used to live over this way and it hasn't really changed except it is noisy and hard to find great parking depending upon where you go. If you are a tourist, get out of this area and explore other parts of L.A. its a huge city. Go downtown and then east. Most go to the western beach cities and they are great but for a taste of all things L.A. you gotta explore east of downtown or northeast in the Silverlake area for some cute little places to shop or eat. Especially near Sunset Junction on Sunset Blvd. Enjoy. I have lived in many places in the city and in the U.S. and L.A. has it all if you explore it and get outside of the tourist traps. There's never enough parking, the main streets are always congested, and there isn't any real shopping stores. Burger King, Starbucks, & Hollywood Sushi are the places to eat, Nutrishop & Smoke and Vape are the places to shop, there's 1 bar/screening room called Adults Only, a spa called Oasis, and a dentist called Family Dentistry.
