Racist and fatphobic establishment. Waiter Gina and the chef were beyond condescending and vile during my visit last April with my party of 3.
I visited this "restaurant" in April 2018 with two friends. I asked for the advertised all-you-can-eat special for three people. Gina, who understood what I was saying, brought out menus for my party. Since I came here before, I am familiar with the menu specifically for AYCE. It was my mistake for not double-checking after they had a change new management. After my party and I received and finished our first and only round of food, Gina brought out the check. I said to Gina, "We asked for the AYCE specials for our party. Where are the menus?" Gina acts like she did not know what I was talking about THEN proceeded to say that my group was basically cut off by the CHEF out of all people. I asked to speak with the chef and explained what happened and that I would like to continuing dining under the AYCE menu only. I did not mind paying for the food we already ate, just honour your special menu. The chef left and Gina left behind him into the kitchen. At this point, other patrins are listening in to see what happens. My friend, who happens to speak fluent japanese overhears from our table coming from the kitchen:
My friend approaches the chef and Gina and scolds them for talking about us then she tells me and our other friend to leave without translating the kitchen speak. I could tell it was bad and I just wanted to leave. I slipped them my card to pay so I could leave without causing a scene. In the car as we drove away was when my friend translated everything that was said by Gina and the chef. It has taken me 10 long months to build up the courage to leave this review as this experience has prevented me from fully enjoying eating out with friends and has me wary of restaurants period.
TL;DR: Got called a n*gger in japanese by the chef and waitress and the restaurant is deceiving when serving larger customers and customers of color (Black...
Read moreThis place has to be the worst sushi I had in my life. It just didn’t hit at all. Number one the price was ridiculous for classic rolls. Somehow, I ended up spending close to $35 for two classic rolls and one of them was a California roll. The wait time I was the only one ordering at the time and there was no other orders. The guy in the kitchen was literally just standing around, but for some reason, it took 20 minutes for my food to come out and I just order 2 rolls. When the rose came out, I got it to go. I came home open it up. I thought I was being pumped or something because they were so small. They were like maki rolls. Then on top of that, they tasted horrible. Ralphs California rolls are 10 times better than those. Maybe I was being too harsh at the time, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven’t been back since.
Overpriced, slow on the service and undesirable.
Don’t get me wrong we all know we’ll wait and pay as much needed for some good Sushi rolls, but that place is...
Read moreVery clean and stylish restaurant staffed with friendly, cheerful servers. The presentation of the dishes was very nice--they looked just like the menu photos, and the portions of the nigiri were generous. The tempura was pleasantly crunchy, if a bit thick. However, the gyoza, egg rolls, and tempura shrimp were not served with dipping sauces, which is a big negative for me. The fish quality was not very good, either--the salmon was very lean and had no flavor. The rice was hard and under seasoned as well.
Most importantly, though, my date said he noticed a funny taste when eating our shared shrimp tempura roll. We both are having stomach issues that started within 15 minutes of noticing something amiss with our food.
If you want a better-quality ayce experience, Itacho on Beverly is a good bet. They are a little more expensive, but it's worth it. Their portions are smaller but they use better quality ingredients. Plus, they don't require that everyone at the...
