Beware: We recently had our wedding at the Count’s Den and we highly recommend staying clear of this establishment.
While the Count’s Den has the potential to be a magical and memorable place to get married, its owner and operator has no business coordinating, hosting, or officiating weddings.
We met with Rachel on multiple occasions and explained/ outlined all of our expectations. She agreed and on the wedding day she was not prepared, delaying our ceremony and reception by two hours.
Additionally, after paying her to be our coordinator, we were responsible for 90% of the coordinating. We had to make the schedule, direct and inform her staff, and had to make sure everything went smoothly. Rachel ended up disappearing for most of the reception.
Rachel’s original agreement was for us to meet with her one last time to do a practice rehearsal and decorate the night before. She decided to book a last minute event for that night and told us that we could do the rehearsal and decorate the day of. We agreed to it after she convinced us that we would only need three hours before the ceremony.
On the day of the wedding she told us that meeting three hours was too much time and that she was not going to allow us to be on the property until 4:00pm. Mind you, our doors were supposed to open at 6:00pm. We get to the venue and Rachel and her team were far from done.
The tables were a mess, decorations were not finalized, seating arrangements were done incorrectly. The front display did not even get decorated until fifteen minutes after the doors were supposed to open at 6:00pm. It wouldn’t have even been completed if we did not remind one of Rachel’s staff to put it together.
The rehearsal and pre wedding photos were never done. Everything had to be rushed and done chaotically to get everyone inside. We only reserved three hours of catering service so once everyone got to actually eat, we only had an hour left. Some of our guest ended up leaving since they were tired of waiting in the rain.
Thanks to our family, we were able to finish the wedding and reception with some class but our wedding should have never started...
Read moreWhere to begin with The Count's Den! A few words to get us going: decadent, lush, spacious, sultry, a queer haven, professionally-managed.
Our publishing house traveled to Los Angeles and hosted a poetry reading at The Count's Den last week! Ann, the administrative assistant, was so warm and attentive and helped us finalize every detail—which made planning an event from afar feel effortless from our end.
On the night-of, we were greeted by the owner, Rachel, who had the space prepped for us and was ready to bartend. We were able to link up our playlist, adjust the lighting, and relax as 80-100 people floated in for our event. Despite working with a good-sized crowd, the space felt plentiful for a group this size.
Our guests and featured readers loved the atmosphere and many selfies and photos captured the night and dominated our social media accounts with the iconic Count's Den interior. I felt the people most precious to us were not only safe and comfortable in every way, but having a blast and making genuine connections with one another. A success in every way!
The Count's Den is a place that is truly one-of-a-kind, and now I am crushed to not be an LA local! Godspeed and great success to The Count's Den! Fingers crossed we find our way back...
Read moreThis place is SO cool! The atmosphere is mysterious and enticing—I felt like Jonathan Harker stepping into Dracula's castle for the first time! The bartender (whom I later learned is the owner, Rachel) was super nice, mixing me an original, unique mocktail rather than just handing me a soda or something. The seating is very adjustable, so it can accommodate a wide variety of events and performances. Despite this adjustability, the chairs are comfortable—we're talking real wood, not a flimsy plastic folding chair. I attended a burlesque show there, and from what I could tell there wasn't a bad seat in the house. The ones further back were even elevated on stools so that patrons could see better. The show went off without a hitch — lights and sound performed seamlessly, making for a wonderful night out!
If you're into the spooky, the sexy, and everything in between, The Count's Den is the...
